Adaline, the girl that could light up not only my day, but also my whole world.
I first met her at the Christmas party my parents hold every year. She was wearing a white flowing dress that cling to all the right places. The dresses showed just how innocent she was. WAS as in past tense.
I was standing with my parents welcoming all of the guests at the door, taking more interest in some guest than others.

As soon as Adeline walked through the door I knew she was like all the girls I got to school with. Trying to keep up with the new clothing trend or trading boyfriends just to say you went there. Although she looks innocent looks can be deceiving.
Our parent exchanged hugs while I was left there awkwardly. She whispered "hi my names Adeline"
I replied uninterested "my names Phoenix." She looked around the room not knowing what to say next, I spoke up "what school do you attend?"
Adeline looking up to me not meeting my eyes "I'm homeschooled."
I was quite taken back at that. As I am curious I couldn't help myself by asking "why are you homeschooled, you aren't ugly?"
She looked taken back for a moment "I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult, but I don't like that thought of all those people wanting to know every aspect of your life. wanting to control it so they become your puppeteer."
I said very amused "you don't let them have the knowledge to control you, you tell them what they need to know when you stop at that."
She shrugged her shoulders "I like having control over my education, I get to choose what I learn and when I learn it, I also don't have to put up with all the high school bullshit such as rumours and gossip."
I nodded my head adding "so far the best reason I have heard so far, you know there are going to be high school student here today right?"
She nodded her head "I guessed that part, they don't know me so it doesn't matter."
"Doesn't it get lonely not having human interaction?" I asked.
She shook her head "I have friends, I frequently go to the library and there is a girl there and over time we became friends."
As I was then going to ask another question her mother interrupted wanting to move on and talk to others. Mum grabbed my hand turning me to face her, she whispered "she's a good girl that one, Nix."
I shrugged my shoulders not wanting mum to know I was intrigued. well more like captivated by her beauty and also I still knew nothing about her. I look forward to the rest of the night.

I was outside with my closet mates Tom and Jerry, I still take the piss out of them for having the same name as that kid's show. Tom and I were in the middle of talking about our best pranks of the year when my EX Sara came up to us. She ran her fingers along my exposed chest, leaning in she whispered into my ear "let's go upstairs?"
I was then going to let her have her way with me when I saw Adeline. I shook my head, taking a step back "Nah, I don't know if you got anything when you cheated."
She gasped in shock, I would have never turned her down before but seeing Adeline it just makes me want to know more. The enigmatic feeling to her was drawing me in.

I walked away from Sara and the boys to join Adeline. I snuck up behind her, whispering in her ear "I knew you were drawn to me!" I exclaimed.
She shook her head laughing nervously "no, I d-didn't know you were, um out here."
I started laughing at how embarrassed she got, I pat her on the back "darlin' I was only messing around, want to hang around me and my mates?" She looked down to the ground shrugging her shoulders. I grabbed her hand "you are coming anyway."

She nodded her head keeping up with my fast pace. once I stopped she ran into my back not expecting us to reach then so quickly. I turned to her "this is Tom and Jerry" indicating who is who by pointing at each of them.
She nodded her head then whispered her name to the boys. as the night went on she opened up a bit, by that I mean she talked without stuttering or talking in general.
That was the first but not the last night I saw her, Adeline.
