Four years ago,
Boruto, Mitsuki, & Sarada age 12"I'm going to be Hokage." Sarada announced. She, Boruto, and Mitsuki we're all standing on the great stone faces overlooking the leaf village.
"What about you Boruto, don't you want to be Hokage?" Mitsuki asked.
"Why because my dad is? Nah no offense Sarada, but I've seen what being a Hokage does to someone, makes them totally lame."
"You mean a responsible leader?"
"Nope Sarada, I meant lame."
She furrowed her brow at him so he laughed.
His unexpected laugh made Sarada blush, and it didn't help that he was still smiling at her as he spoke.
"I want to protect the village too ya know, but in a different way, behind the scenes, like Mr Sasuke."
"And I'll help you Boruto." Mitsuki offered.
Boruto smiled.
"Alright, well then look at Team 7. One hokage and two shadowkage, pretty impressive team if you ask me."
2 Months Later
"New assignment already?! " ChoCho exclaimed.
Sarada nodded "yup and it's in the land of Iron."
"No way! Lucky." ChoCho said grabbing some chips.
"Hey what about inoshikacho?" Sarada asked.
ChoCho waved her hand dismissively.
"We're doing good, and Shikadai's a great captain, but we never really leave the land of fire."
Sarada frowned.
"That's actually why I wanted to hang out, because we're not coming home for a while. I'm actually kind of sad to be so far away from the village hidden in the leaves, this is my home."
ChoCho again shrugged it off.
"Well if it helps, you're not missing anything. Nothing will change Sarada, the village will be the same as ever ."
Sarada frowned at her friend.
"Im gonna miss you though."
ChoCho smiled.
"Yeah I'm gonna be a little bored stuck with so many boys around.""That sounds like your dream ChoCho."
"Shut up" ChoCho said playfully punching Sarada.
The two girls hugged and Sarada went home to get ready.
......
"Alright now don't be too sad without me Kawaki." Boruto said.
Kawaki rolled his eyes.
Boruto brushed dirt off Kawaki's shoulder.
"Seriously don't be a grouch, make friends will ya?"" I don't need friends" Kawaki retaliated.
"See that's the problem. Oh and if I wasn't taking my game with me, I'd totally let you borrow it."
"You're not taking your game." Naruto interjected.
"WHY!!" Boruto dramatically sighed.
"You don't need it on a mission, you need to take it seriously."
"Buts it's a far trip ya know!"
"Yeah, and you'll be running."
"Yeah yeah whatever old man, don't you have somewhere to be?"
"I do actually but-"
Boruto cut him off, hugging his dad.
Naruto was shocked but leaned down to hug his son, smiling at him proudly. Then the shadow clone vanished.
"I had a feeling he would do that, lazy old Geezer." Boruto said smiling fondly. He then turned to his sister.
"Bye big brother!" Himawari said hugging his leg.
"I'm gonna miss you Hima, and I promise to get you a real souvenir this time." Boruto said patting her head.
The last one to say goodbye was Hinata, who was doing her best not to cry.
"Mom c'mon" Boruto said blushing.
"It's only a couple weeks, maybe less if we're quick.""I know, I know" Hinata said quietly.
As requested by Boruto, the whole family wouldn't walk him down to the gate, instead say goodbye to him at the house, which meant they all waved goodbye one last time before he was off.
.....
"Yukiatso, please don't do this."
"This world isn't fair, it's cruel."
"No, I can't end things like this!"
"Please, please wake up."
"I know now my purpose."
.....
A month and a half later team Seven returned. Just as ChoCho had said, the Leaf didn't change at all. But Team Seven had. Reading Sarada's expression, ChoCho knew something had happened to them in the Land Of Iron, something that changed everything. And as they'd all soon learn, Boruto would begin to change.
