"And the last one!"
Dozens of boxes, ranging from big to small, from perfectly shaped to well... Severely damaged were stacked and scattered neatly on the front yard of your new home.
While you and your mother were moving the boxes from the truck to the front yard, two men unloaded the unnecessarily expensive and heavy furniture into your lovely home.
The front yard had a stone walkway that lead to the porch, before that there stood a big forest green tree that complemented the creme colored abode very nicely, which includes two small grid windows on each side of the evergreen windowed door. And a gray rooftop as the cherry on top.
"We should take a break." Your mother placed the last box on top of another and wiped the sweat off her face. "Jeez, my back hurts" she groaned as she sat down on an off-white cast iron chair that was paired with a table with similar features, clearly the color was the result of dirt and rust possibly due to rain.
You sat next to her, catching your breath as you sat beside her. It was 1 o'clock in the afternoon, you felt the heat of the shining sun burn your head making it ache. "God, I need something cold to drink." You said, pointlessly fanning yourself with your hand.
"How about you go and grab some water from a grocery store nearby."
"But I don't know the layout of this neighborhood, let alone the city" (y/n) whined "Plus, Im tired"
"Well, then die of heat stroke sweetie" your mother sneered before she got up to head inside. You rolled your eyes, contemplating if you should just stay here baking in the sun or go to the store and die trying to get some beverages. Fortunately for you , a woman in her 30s casually walks up to the fence to introduce herself to you.
"Good Morning! You must be the new neighbors" she waved and gave you a warm smile "Welcome to the neighborhood. Is there anything you need help with?" She said in a sweet voice that had now drawn you to her
In the few moments that you had gazed upon her, her effortless young beauty struck you with awe. Her dark blue bob cut hair and white headband really suits her. You thought.
"A glass of water would be nice." You told her, smiling back at the beautiful lady. She nodded her head and immediately went back inside to get a drink.
"Was that the neighbor you talked with? How bold of you to ask for a drink." Your mom cheekily says as you weren't the type to talk to people you didn't know.
"She offered to help, I couldn't waste an opportunity like that." you answered, looking back to see that the woman had already gotten back with a drink in her hand.
"Here, I hope this refreshes you- And oh! You must be her mother." As she handed you the drink, she starts to introduce herself entirely to the both of us.
"Hi, My name's Tomoko Higashikita. I'm a mother with one son and life is quite peaceful here in this neighborhood. So I hope you have a good time here." She smiled as she kindly welcomed us.
"And she must be your daughter? You look quite young to have one" she said, complimenting my mom.
"So do you" my mom replied and the both of them laughed. "Your son must be in school at the moment?"
"Yes he is and I suppose your daughter will be attending the same alma mater the following week?"
"Well, tomorrow. She said she wanted to start as soon as we got here."
You told your mom you were heading inside and left her to talk with Ms. Tomoko, and probably capture a bond with the said family. Though you're not quite sure how you'd get close to his son as you weren't too fond of talking to guys your age. You tried to hide the fact that you're awkward around guys by giving them the cold shoulder. But somehow it seems to attract them even more and to this this day you still wonder why.
After you were done prancing around in your thoughts, you decided to head to your room as the two men had already finish unloading and setting all the heavy stuff, like your bed, in their designated areas.
You've arrived at your bed and sluggishly plopped your body on it, you slowly fluttered your eyes closed and before you know it, you went to sleep.
"Phase 1 complete sir...."
