Yasmina jolted awake as fear gripped her heart. The nightmares were back, and they were darker than before.

Yasmina changed into her street clothes and snuck out. She ran to the ocean near their home. The smell of the saltwater drowned her senses in the comfort it brought her. Memories of her mother went through her head when they used to walk the coastline together. She was happy to have those memories of her mother. Before, her father tried to strip her of everything that reminded her of the woman who had loved her and her sister equally. Still, she kept her mother's golden pendant with a thin silver chain that she had engraved the final words her mother ever said to her before she died "You are strong, Yaz, but you need to find the courage to be weak." She gripped the pendant around her neck tightly as tears pricked her eyes.
