2 months later
"Frosty? Frosty?" Violet stood next to the couch Bucky had fallen asleep on an hour ago.
"Mmm?"
"Hey Frosty the grumpy snowman, wake up already."
"What the hell do you want Fanny?" Bucky still lay there with his eyes closed, hoping that Violet had only one question and then he could go back to sleep.
"I've told you a thousand times not to call me Fanny."
"And I've told you a thousand times not to call me Frosty. So?"
Violet grabbed him by the arm and pulled him off the couch.
"I'm dead, let me lie."
"No, No and No. We have no more food at home and you are coming shopping with me today. Do you understand me? Just because we're in Romania doesn't mean you have to go all Graph Dracula okay?"
Bucky had only left the apartment a few times since they were in Romania, he couldn't handle so many people. Violet, on the other hand, he had even grown fond of, she had helped him jog his memory lately and he was grateful to her for taking care of everything so far.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. Ok. Just let me change quickly okay?"
Violet dropped contentedly on the couch and waited for Bucky to get ready.
"Seriously? The cap again? Can't you go without one?"
Bucky just rolled his eyes over and opened the front door. "Are you coming or what are you waiting for?"
"Yeah yeah sure first I have to make you and then I'm the one who's late. We know that game already mister." She pushed past him and ran the five floors down.
"Are you coming old man or what are you waiting for?" Bucky heard her shout and laugh through the stairwell. After 10 minutes of walking, they had arrived at a large supermarket.
"Ready Frosty?"
"I don't know Fanny, there are so many people and children too and..."
Violet interrupted him in his sentence, she knew he had a heck of a lot of respect for shopping alone. Until now he had never been to a supermarket, at least not since 1943.
"Come on, you can do it. It won't take us long, okay? And we can leave the store anytime. Just please take another breath, because what will shock you is definitely the offer Ok?"
Bucky held onto the shopping cart with both hands and took another deep breath as Violet had told him to.
As they entered the supermarket, Bucky was in shock as some are when they first arrive in New York and get culture shock.
He had grown up in the 20s - In times of the Great Depression, you were lucky if you could even buy food, and now he was standing in front of a shelf full of candy as far as the eye could see.
"Okay. I think the fear has turned to admiration. Just take whatever you want Frosty, today we treat ourselves right Ok?"
Like a little kid, he put every thing he could find into the cart. From various chocolates and chips to various fruits and soft drinks and of course ready meals should not be missing. After the cart was full to the brim and they had paid, they made their way home with six full bags.
"Fanny, this is insane. I can hardly believe what you can buy. Did you see the colorful worms in the candy section? Or the sugar? How much sugar can one town need?"
Violet experienced Bucky for the first time having a flow of speech, telling her about all the things you could find in the store as if she hadn't been there. He walked upright for the first time and a few times she could even see or hear a laugh. Violet didn't say much, she just agreed with him a few times and the rest of the time she watched him.
