Chapter 5:Childhood to Love

It was a beautiful, relaxing summer for me after the whole drama I had been through last year when all of a sudden, my childhood best friend Adam texted me out of the blue. Let me tell you a little flashback about Adam. Adam was my friend since kindergarten, and we had always been close friends. We would get along easily! Last year, Adam left our school, but anyway, we were going to go to separate schools since in my first year of high school, I was going to change my school. Adam texted me the whole day; we laughed, talked, and discussed some topics. So I remembered how easily we got along all those years. I felt happy for the first time in a long time. Days passed faster than I could imagine, and he started texting me on a daily basis. We talked a lot, pretty sure about everything in life and about our plans and dreams until one day we decided to meet up in the library to discuss a novel that we had read.

I dressed up in a casual black and white crop top and jeans; in my mind, I was only meeting up with my friend. As I entered "my world," as I like to describe the library, my eyes landed on Adam laughing and talking to a girl. Adam had changed; he was much taller than I remembered, he had some muscles now, but his beautiful brown hair and eyes were shining as always. I felt a little bit disappointed when I saw that girl. I don't know why; it was like jealousy.

I approached Adam, smiled with a cute sweet smile, and said, "Here's my best friend!" Adam smiled and replied, "Wow Rosie, you are prettier than ever!" I blushed and told him, "Well, you're not that bad yourself!" And we both started laughing! Adam introduced me to Vanessa, his friend, and told me she wanted to discuss this novel with us, so he invited her too! I got unbelievably angry, but of course, I didn't show it at all! We started discussing the story and talking about bullying, since this story was about bullying. I really had a great time, despite my disappointment for Vanessa's presence! I went back home, and the moment I got to my room, Adam sent me a message telling me that he was sorry and he knew this wasn't planned, and that he was sad we didn't have the chance to take photos together. I told him that it was okay and that the next time, hopefully, we will. Adam didn't stop texting me at all; we even upgraded to video calls. We talked 24/7, and I began to have feelings for him, especially after the care he was showing and the trust he had built inside my heart, despite the fact that I swore to God not to trust anyone ever again.

One day in February from my first high school year, we hosted a career fair at our school. In the career fair, students from all the other high schools are welcomed to come and ask for information about universities, since every university will have a table with two people to answer questions about the university. As I was asking excitedly about medical school to one of the universities, I turned around to the feeling of someone landing his hand on my shoulder, and what a surprise! It was Adam! I was extremely shocked but HAPPY! I hugged him and said, "You're here! Why didn't you tell me you're coming!" He replied with a laugh, "It wouldn't be a surprise, would it?!" I took Adam on a tour around my school; we had the best time ever, and he bought me ice cream from the shop in our school! We sat and talked a lot, but this time face to face, and we took pictures together! I really had fun with Adam; I wanted him to stay all day! After this event, Adam and I became closer than ever. I think that both of us felt chemistry drowning us at the fair, and I even invited him to my science fair so that he could watch me explain about a disease that I chose, Hyperalgesia!

Two months after the career fair, it was finally time for my science fair. I really prepared hard for this because this fair can give opportunities to scholarships, and also it was the day I would see Adam again! The fair started, but Adam didn't come. People passed by me, and I wasn't feeling I was able to talk, but I gathered myself up and stood courageous, answering every question I got with excitement! Suddenly, some principals of some universities came to the fair; they started asking all the other students about their projects, and they seemed tough that they didn't even smile! I was shaking as my turn began, and to make it worse, suddenly I saw Vanessa, but I also saw Adam waving at me! I began talking and explaining, and honestly, I was amazed by how perfectly I was explaining about my project; it was like as if some magic got into me! As I finished speaking, I blushed and looked at Adam; everyone clapped for me, and I was in complete shock! I won the first place in the career fair, and I was very HAPPY! After I was awarded, I ran to Adam and hugged him; he was so happy for me I could see from behind him Vanessa's red eyes, but I didn't care at all! After the fair, Adam took me to celebrate at a local restaurant that I really love, then we went to the park, and he bought me a flower and cotton candy; it really felt like a cute date! I was happy to have him by my side!

After a week, Adam and I decided to start reading a new novel, but this time it was his choice! He chose a love novel, and in that novel, the main characters were best friends, then they became lovers with each other. It was an amazing novel, to be honest, but Adam made me promise not to read the last page of it so we could read the ending together! We finished the whole novel at the beginning of June; it was like addiction! Adam was going to travel for the summer, so we decided to meet up and discuss this novel before he left, and that way I could see him too!

I met up with Adam in the library, and he wanted us to read the last page from his copy of the novel. Honestly, I didn't know why; I just wanted to read the page because I had been waiting since forever! Adam opened the book, and there was a red rose in it. He read the last page, and he started reading. My heart was racing until he said those lines: "And Andrew told his best friend that he loves her, and that way they went from friends to lovers!" He looked into my eyes, gave me the rose, and said, "I love you Rosie! Would you be my girl and soulmate?" I blushed, hugged him, and told him, "Yes, of course, I love you too!" It was a great moment for me, but the fact that he was traveling was so sad as well!

The next day, I called him before going to the airport, and he answered with all love, but after 7 hours, as he got to the country, I started calling him just ignoring! What happened? Where is the twist?
