Asriel: Y/n has heard stories about Asriel but doesn't know much since he died way before y/n was around
Chara: Like Asriel y/n has heard stories about them and who they were but they died before y/n was around
Flowey: Y/n has met flowey but never really talked since Flowey was normally near where a human could possibly fall down. Although before frisk fell down, Flowey had control of the timeline and they were friends in some of the resets. Others he brutally murderd them or however you spell it.
Toriel: Y/N knows about Toriel seeing as she used to be the queen and stuff but since she has lived in the ruins nobody has seen her including Y/N (honestly i didn't know what to put for this cause I didn't want to be all like 'ooo toriels y/ns mom ooo' type of fanfic so sorry not sorry that there's like no toriel in this since this is all happening in the underground before frisk fell or fuck it and frisk just doesn't happen lolol)
Sans: Y/N and sans are friends, but are not too close. Y/N thinks that Sans make good jokes on occasion but laughs to be polite when they kinda fall flat (or not you decide) but other then that they are kinda friends.
Papyrus: (I personally love papyrus as a character so this might reflect how I feel) Y/N and Papyrus are good friends and get along really well, you even try his spaghetti sometimes, although it doesn't always taste great you tell him how he can make adjustments to his recipe since you know how to cook. (And if you can't cook then pretend you can I guess idk) You and Papyrus hang out quite frequently but not too much.
Undyne: (another one of my favs) Y/N and Undyne are childhood friends (wow what a cliché) but have grown a bit apart over the years, none the less you still talk a good amount and aren't on bad terms or anything. You and Undyne have some shared interests as well. (I fuckin love this woman like you have no idea)
Alphys: You and Alphys aren't best friends but your close enough, you two share some common interests (idk maybe you like mew mew aswell or something).
Napstablook: (my fav ghost!!) you haven't really talked with napstablook that much even though y/n lives in waterfall. They never really make much of an effort to talk with you but when you do see each other around you say hi and try and have a nice conversation even if it may be a brief meeting. (Also if you didn't know blooky uses they/them and I don't see that much in fanfics so I'm using that for them since those are their pronouns)
Now for (hopefully) everybody's favourite robot/ghost/obviously gay person.... METTATON!: So you and Mettaton are not very close at the start of the fic but obviously some interesting stuff will happen between him and y/n! (No nsfw unless it is at the end of the fic because I don't want anyone uncomfortable like I get when reading it because that's kinda gross to go too much into detail about some robotic genitals or some crazy shit like that. I actually had to put my phone down during a fic because of this exact reason 💀💀 I hate reading smut omg) it's mostly fluff but you MIGHT have some slightly suggestive scenes during the end of the book. You two have a very strong bond and get along with each other
One more thing: undertale belongs to Toby Fox and is not mine, all characters belong to him except for the y/n character or any original characters I decide to involve in the story.
