Silence. Then...

"Oh! H-he's your boyfriend. W-well⎼good for you." Zak the Hunter seemed scared. Because I'd walked into his territory and I wasn't frightened like the others.

Alpha. It is you, isn't it?

Hello, Zak. Missed you. How've you been?

Well...Yeah. She doesn't know, does she?

She does. Don't tell anyone.

Honestly, do you think they would believe me? I mean, I'm a rogue. That lives with humans. Sure, I've not a mate, but still.

I'll give you an update tomorrow.

"Um...Well, see ya." Zak said, to the both of us.

Then, he left.

"What was all the quiet for?"Aaliyah asked.

"Oh! Uh..." I groaned. More exposure. How fun! Note the sarcasm. "Uh...Zak's a wolf. Like me. And wolves can communicate through thought."

"Oh, okay. Anyways, I have some questions."

"Alright, shoot. Not with a silver bullet, though." I respond.

Aaliyah laughs at my joke. "I noticed. There's a burn scar on the back of your neck where the buckle from your collar sits."

"There is? I don't feel anything with it on. Oh well. What are your questions?" I ask, and a few hours later, she basically know everything about my kind and my pack.

"And finally, last question, question #1,000,000,000.  This one's kind of hypothetical. If you and I mated, would I become your Luna? Just hypothetical, not really saying it should happen."

"Um, yes. You would. The wife of an Alpha is a Luna. She's called a Luna because the first wolf pack leader's name was Alpha, and his mate was Luna." I say.

"Okay, then. Pretty basic. Do you still want to sleep in my room? I mean, you know, as a dog...?"

"Isn't that what we've been doing?" I asked, throwing a pillow her way. She caught it, barely. We walked into her bedroom and I shifted into a dog. I fell asleep on her bed long before she came back into the bedroom.

The next morning, I woke up, smiling at Aaliyah's sleeping form. Then, something black caught my eye. I nudged Aaliyah's hand with my muzzle. It moved slightly and fell to the bed. Then I saw it. On her hand, was a black mark. The mark of a wolf. And not just any wolf.

It was the mark of an Alpha.
