TW: Alcohol, implied abuse, neglect, death, annoying cliffhanger
Hi. I'm Elanor. When THIS happened, i was twelve. My mother, Lucy, had just died about four years ago. My dad, Oliver, is kinda a jerk, he used to be nice, but after mom died he started drinking. A lot. This was one of the night when he was drinking, with his friends. I was in my room, packing my bag. I had enough. I was not dealing with this crap anymore. Before mom died, she would cook great meals, now we eat noodles. Or rather, dad makes noodles and puts a bowl outside my door, then he eats at some restaurant or whatever with his friends. My arm also feels like crap. I was not going to deal with it. So i threw on a hoodie and jeans and packed my bags with all the necessities, like money, clothes, my toothbrush and some toothpaste, the plush my mom gave me, my phone, my headphones and my three favorite books. I took one last look around my room. There were a lot of poster and pictures on the walls. I decided to take the photos with me, as they were from the times before my mother died. Then, i put on a black hoodie, black jeans, and my combat boots. I put my backpack on and climbed out the window.

I ran. I ran and i didn't even look back. I had planned it all out the day before, i even had a bus ticket to get out of there. I ran all the way to the bus stop. I got on the bus as soon as it arrived, and showed my ticket. I looked out the window, at the beautiful scenery. There were trees, and a lake somewhere along the way. I was just thinking about where to go after i got off the buss, when someone sat next to me. I looked up, and saw someone i didn't think i would ever see again. Olivia. The girl who had been horrible to me since first grade. She had brown hair, and blue eyes. She was wearing a pink top and shorts. Why was she even awake? Its literally 6am. Thankfully i was wearing my hoodie, so she didn't notice it was me. I looked away and put in my earbuds, hoping she would ignore me. She looked at me for a second before turning around and turning on her phone. She didn't say anything, she just sat there. I didn't mind(Except for the fact that she smelled like she had bathed in perfume). But when we came to my stop, she tripped me. "Aww, poor you! I didn't mean to trip you!" She said with that terrible fake smile she always has on her face. She was wearing a whole lot of makeup, so much that it looked like she had bathed in it. I just stood up with my bag on my back. "I forgive you, miss Barbie, as long as you stop swimming in perfume." She looked offended. "Excuse me?!? Who do you think you are? I'm gonna call my dad on you!" Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, her dad is kinda rich and owns our school, which is great. "I don't care about your dad, i just feel bad for whoever has to smell you coming from a mile away, and by the way, you should probably eat some of that makeup if you wanna finally be pretty on the inside." Thank the internet for that one. Olivia glared at me. "I'm gonna call my dad! He'll get you expelled! What would your dad say if you got expelled again for the fifth time? I'm sure he would ground you for a lifetime!"I forgot to mention, her dad is rich and owns the school. I snickered. "My dad would not care at all about me getting expelled, Mrs. Barbie, so no need to worry about me." She gave me a death glare. "Ugh! You are so ugly! Like what happened to your hair! And who brought your clothes?" I looked her right in the eyes. "Bye" I said unfazed. Then i just walked off the buss. I heard her raging back on the bus, but she sounded too much like a angry pterodactyl for me to care.

Matthew's pov:
I opened my eyes, then checked my clock, 2am. Perfect. My step-dad and -brothers would be asleep. My mom was on a trip. I grabbed my bag, and left my room. I was going to run away. I had been eating noodles as my only meal for way too long. I walked towards the bathroom to leave using the window, when someone stopped me. "Where are you going?" My sister. How did i forget Helen? "Uhhh" I tried to find something to say. "You're running away aren't you? How dare you run away! Without me?!?" She gave me an annoyed look with her ocean blue eyes. I just smiled at her. "I was going to come back for you, i just didn't think you would like living on the streets until we got enough money for a house" She snickered. "Really? You think I'd rather stay here than live on the streets? This house is a nightmare. So, are we leaving now or are we waiting for them to wake up."She pushed one of her blond curls out of her face. I realized we had been standing in a hallway for about fifteen minutes. "Right! Let's go, follow me." I told Helen. And we got out the bathroom no problem, except for me falling in a thorn bush but I'd rather not talk about that.
