"ROB a bank?" Clarence snatched his head back. He stared back at his wife, who looked exasperated. "Your joking right?"

"No Clarence." she rolled her eyes. "I'm dead fucking serious. How else do you expect do come up with five fucking thousand?!"

"I don't know man..." resting his elbow on his knee, he rubbed the wrinkles in his forehead. What the fuck is going on, he thought. Going through the situation in his head, he couldn't fathom how his wife's birthday could go from 0 to 100 in a matter of hours.

"Do you hear how crazy this shit sounds?"

"Yes, I do." Lori sighed. "But what do you suggest we do instead?"

"We can sell our stuff."

"Everything in this bitch together don't cost add up to 5,000." she straight faced him. "Just think about it."

Clarence sighed. He knew it wasn't the best idea. Hell, he knew it wasn't a good idea at all. But what could he do? Endanger his wife? Live the rest of his life always looking behind his back? If successful, robbing this one bank would clear his debt, and maybe put the couple a little further in life.

He couldn't lie. It sounded appealing.

Growing up, neither Clarence nor Lori had money. He was the middle child in a family of 9. And while his parents had enough money to provide them with the bare minimum, that's all they could do.

Clarence's parents had each child between a year of each other. So there was always a younger child needing diapers or the oldest of the house needing funds as they moved on in life. Clarence was almost always left in the gray area.

Lori, on the other hand, was the only child. An accident. Her mother was in no position to have a baby when she did. And after Lori was born, she still never got her shit together.

Days would go by and Lori went without. At the time she didn't know it wasn't normal because everyone around her went through the same situation as well. It wasn't until she met Clarence that she learned what a sense of comfort and reliability was.

And though the couple didn't have much, they were happy with what they did.

A knock echoed off the door, and Lori went to answer it. "We just famous today, huh?" She pulled the door partially open, as it was blocked by a chain guard. When she saw the familiar balding head she opened it fully.

"Money! Rent due week ago." the small Hispanic man yelled unintentionally. "Money now or leave."

"Ahhh Mr. Santiago!" Lori reached out to hug him. When he dodged her hug she pulled back. "My husband actually just went to the check cashing place so we can pay you." she pointed.

"Money now or never."

"Ten minutes. Give us ten minutes." she gave a thumbs up before closing and locking the door behind her. As she turned around and rested her back on the door, she raised an eyebrow at Clarence.

"Okay. Hypothetically speaking, let's say we decided to rob a bank. How the fuck do we get away with this?"

"Easy." she shrugged. "First we-"
