I hopped in Mingi's car on the right side and buckled my seatbelt, holding my little piece of paper on the right side of his car.
'Conference at twelve.
Brunch at the 'Gunga:Cook the bread.
Go home.'
I opened the car door.
"Are you ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, hold on." Mingi said and then hopped in his car on the right side.
Then he started his engine again.
"We're going to talk about this country and an unknown person, but she or he's heavily armed. So, we're trying to convince this person to leave Korea." Mingi said.
"Uh, isn't that dangerous?" I asked.
"Let's see." He said and continued to drive.
Thirty minutes in the car, I saw street names.
"Are we there yet?" I asked.
"Just about." Mingi said.
Then I saw cities towering behind clouds.
Mingi unbuckled his seatbelt.
I did the same thing.
"This conference is about safety issues and of Japan is safer than Korea." He said.
"Uh, that's kind of racist but ok." I said.
We hopped out of the car and Mingi waited for me.
We had to take the elevator and then we were going up.
"So, which office?" I asked.
"Well, let's see." He said.
Just then, a guy with a military hair cut peeked in.
He smiled wide, revealing missing teeth.
"Hello." Mingi said in Japanese.
"When did you learn Japanese?" I asked.
"My father taught me." He said.
"Oh, I see." I said.
"Don't worry, I can speak Korean as well," the guy said with a heavy accent, "I am Akio. You are the lovely couple, yes?" He said and reached his hand to shake Mingi's hand.
"Song Mingi." He said.
He sheepishly smiled as he shook Akio's hand.
"And you are, my dear?" He asked me.
"Song Songhee." I said.
Akio offered my hand to shake his hand as well.
I quickly shook his hand and started to walk.
Akio started to walk.
"So the railroads are getting bigger and faster, yes?" He said.
"Yes, but there's a downside of them." Mingi said.
"Like what?" Akio said.
"Like the lack of seats and the lack of flexibility." I said.
"Well." Akio said.
"Plus, sometimes there isn't room for a few more passengers." Mingi said.
"And there isn't any no rural services." I said.
"Right, like, let's say my wife and I want to go to the outskirts of Soul, well we can't because they're under construction." Mingi said.
"Well, construction could be a long time." Akio said and stroked his beard.
"Well, and sadly, we have more air pollution," I said, "so yea. I guess Japan is better than Korea in various ways and reasons." Mingi sighed and stud up from his chair.
"Thank you for coming out though." I said and started to follow Mingi.
"Don't you want to see the missal that I'm currently working on?" Akio asked.
Mingi turned his head.
"Where is the missal right now?" He asked.
"Don't worry, it's near the edge of Korea." Akio said.
"Where exactly is the missal?" Mingi repeated.
"Fine, it's at the middle of Soul." Akio said and checked on the time on his watch.
"We need to evacuate the city." I whispered to Mingi.
He nodded and cleared his throat.
"Well, it was a pleasure meeting you. I hope you have a good day." Mingi said and stud up from his chair.
As we were walking, I started to call the court in Seoul.
"Hello? This is the Queen speaking. I'm here to tell you to evacuate your homes in Seoul, as soon as possible. This is not a drill. I repeat. This is not a drill." I said calmly.
Mingi crossed his arms.
"I guess we can't go home 'cause we live in Soul." He said.
"We can rent a place," I said, "or we could try to go home carefully." I said and looked at my phone.
"Or never mind, it's eight forty now." Mingi said and looked at his phone as well.
Uh. Well. Shit.
