" How could I have done that when I wasn't even there" screamed Sara Beth at her grandfather.
" I dont know, but people keep telling me it was probably you who took it."
" Well those people are wrong, they are just all wrong." she cried out.
" Sara, you are known for stealing and lying all the time. Therefore people are going to point fingers." Her granfather carried on.
"Whatever grampy Alex, I didn't steal it." Sara mumbles walking away.
Sara wandered upstairs to her room and plops down on her bed, she takes $100 dollars out of her pocket and clutches it as she has lied her way out of trouble again.
Sara stashes the money between her boxspring and mattress and falls asleep.
The next morning Sara goes to eat with her grandfather. They sit in silnce so all you can hear is the scraping on knives and forks.
" I'm going to pick up a few things at the store today" Sara says breaking the silence.
" Alright, here's $ 20 bucks... buy yourself a liitle treat", Alex replies.
Sara leaves and starts walking to the store, when she gets there she goes to the meat aisle and finds pork, hamburger and fish. She then goes to the vegetables and picks up potatoes, carrots and peas. She goes to the checkout and pays for the items.
As Sara Beth was on here way home an ambulance rushes past her, she doesn't pay much attention to it. As she walks up her drive way she noticed a note on her door, she grabbed it and read it.
" Dear Sara Beth, your grandfather has been taken to the hospital, his cancer is out of control, you should come right away he is passing fast."
As she begins to cry, she runs to her neighbors and gets a ride to the hospital. On the way to the hospital she reads the note over and over again thinking of what she had done.
As they get to the hospital she runs to find his room and when she does find it and walks in they both start to cry. He slowly takes her hand and says, " Promise me, promise me as I get ready to lay my head one last time that you will never lie again"
as his breath cut short Sara began to cry again, she softly says " I promise."
