"I am not going in there in my underwear!" I shout trying to break free of Alice's grip.
"Oh come on! It'll be fun! No ones gonna come here at eleven thirty at night, Mags" She says tugging me toward the edge of the dock. She was right, this lake was completely deserted and seemed like no one has step foot
“But-“
“No but’s, now strip.” Alice commands.
“But-“
“Do you want to end our senior on a shitty note like everyone else does or live it up a little?” Alice says releasing my forearm.
I drop my gaze to dock and mumble, “Fine…”
“Okay now let me see ya strip girl” Alice sings while twirling her already removed t shirt over her head.
I shake my head and laugh, “Sometimes I wonder how the hell I became friends with you.”
“Because I let you use my badass 64 Crayola pack that came with the sharpener and sparkly stickers in the first grade.”
“Damn those kitten stickers.”
We both laugh and strip from our clothes.
I feel a pair of hands squeeze my waist from behind and I shriek. I grab my t-shirt to cover my bare skin and turn to the find the owner of the hands-Max, my best guy friend since I was five who lived on the other side of the fence next to me. He was standing there with a huge goofy smile on his face in his banana printed boxers.
“You’re too easy Mags.” He says laughing.
I swat him in the head, “You know I’m ticklish.”
“You guys ready?” Max says.
I stare out at the dark lake water and nod.
“On the count of three.”
“One.”
“Two.”
Before Max has the chance to say three, I push him off the dock. A second later his wet blond head pokes out from the dark water. Alice and I double over in laughter as Max pouts below us.
“Oh man that was great.” Alice says between laughs.
“Ha ha, very funny,” Max says sarcastically, “now I believe that it is your turn.”
I position myself to jump and grab Alice’s hand. “Ready?”
“Hell yeah.” I say squeezing her hand.
“Ready, set, Jump!” Alice lets go of my hand and I jump off the dock. A rush of adrenaline goes through my body as I’m in the air. When I hit the water, I am engulfed by the darkness. I open my eyes and see my pale body practically glowing in the murky water. I look up and see the moon all disoriented by the water due to my entrance.
“I knew you were gonna do that you jerk.” I splash some of the water up at her but she dodges it.
She shrugs and turns around and begins to walk back toward the sandy shore. “The waters this way Alice” Max asks nearing the dock.
Alice turns around fifteen feet later with a huge grin on her face. “What the-“
She goes into a full on sprint and shouts at the top of her lungs, “CANNONBALL!!!” She runs and jumps off the dock creating a giant wave as she enters the water. She pops back up squirting water out of her mouth with her hands flailing over her head.
“I give you a nine out of ten.”
“What?!”
“No way. Definitely an six, her form was horrible.”
“What?!”
“Yeah but the wave was huge.”
“So, her form was awful and she didn’t have a clean entrance.”
“Hey butt faces!” Alice shouts splashing water at the two of us. "I'm right here you know!"
"Yeah I know. You don't have to scream it to the whole world." I say splashing her back.
"Oh its on." And with that our splash war begins. I send a wave of water onto Alice and she kicks her feet at me. The sounds of splashing water, shrieks, and laughter fill the warm night air. I begin to retreat to the shore when a bright white light blinds me.
"What the hell was that?!" I say blindly blinking.
"That's a keeper." Max laughs pointing to the screen of my waterproof camera in his hand.
