The Final Push

Chapter 1: Defeat

Tommy ran his hands along the crumbling tiles, tracing the now-forgotten train lines. He kicked a stone, the sound echoing through the empty walls that surrounded him. It was strange how a place that made so many connections had been completely cut off from civilisation.

Dust filled the tube station, or was it smoke? Neither were particularly good Tommy thought. And how long would he have to walk down here?? Tube stations are big but this one seems endless.

With his breaths getting shorter and weaker, Tommy slumped down the curved, cracked wall, resting his head in between his knees. What a living hell this was. His eyes began to water, but no, he wasn't crying, he couldn't cry, he was a big man. But this was it, this was defeat. After all these years of trying to please people and be the big man he was, Tommy was finally defeated. His body was weak, he was weak. He didn't want to give up but he could see the light at the end of the tunnel. This was where he died.

But seriously, was that a light at the end of the tunnel? Tommy thought it was only a joke that when you died, well, that's what you saw. He's probably delusional after all. There was no way a train was actually coming towards him. It was an abandoned station after all. Tommy wasn't even sure if the tracks were still intact. Though he was sure he could hear the faint sounds of trains on a track. No, no, he's probably delusional. Tommy rubbed his eyes to clear his vision and pushed himself up so that he was standing. And there, coming towards him, was a train.

It continued to slow as it got closer to Tommy, before coming to a complete stop. The doors opened but instead of a normal train interior, it revealed a completely white room. From seemingly out of nowhere, a voice beckoned. "Hello Tommy, are you ready?".
