Chapter 4

             Agasa Hakase, Haibara Ai, Tsubaraya Mitsuhiko, Yoshida Ayumi and Kojima Genta were headed back to Agasa Hakase's house after going on a short trip.
              They pulled up to Agasa Hakase's house in the yellow BW Beetle. It was really quiet which was unusual as Agasa-Hakase unlocked the door.
Haibara Ai walked through the living room nearest to the kitchen before she came to a complete stop. The lights were on revealing the shards of glass that shattered on the floor with what seemed to be chemicals.
"Hakase?" Ai asked "Where's my experiment?" She asked looking around for it.
"Shouldn't it be on the table Ai-kun?" Agasa Hakase replied as he put his things away in the other room.
"It's not there" Ai replied with a frown as Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta watched mystified at the exchange. The three headed to the couch and Genta went to the couch only to have Ayumi stop him.
"Don't sit there!" Ayumi exclaimed as Genta frowned.
"Why not? I'm tired" Genta grumbled
"Why not Ayumi?" Is there something wrong with it?" Mitsuhiko asked moving closer.
"Do you see it?" Ayumi questioned as Mitsuhiko peered closer at the couch.
"?! It looks like glass"Mitsuhiko mused with a frown. "Why would there be glass on the couch?" He questioned as Ayumi kneeled down to get a closer look at the couch. Ai came over to see what had captured the other three children's attention.
Ayumi shifted and then felt a wet spot. She froze and then moved her hand to feel the wet spot.
"It's wet over here...?" Ayumi said confused
"Maybe it's pee?" Genta suggested
"Idiot. How would some pee get here on the carpet?" Mitsuhiko retorted shooting down that theory.
Ayumi ignored the growing argument to lift her hand to see if it was really pee or something else.
Her eyes widened before a gasp escaped her throat.
"The Hakase doesn't have a pet-"Mitsuhiko argued
"I still say it's pee" Genta retorted but whatever Mitsuhiko was about to say was interrupted by Ayumi's terrified scream. The three whirled around to face Ayumi.
"Ayumi-chan!
"Ayumi-chan!
"What's wrong Ayumi-chan?" Ai asked concerned.
"B-" Ayumi gasped as she shook "B-blood" this grabbed their attention and they investigated the area more to reveal that there were indeed more splatters of blood everywhere.
"Hold on..."Mitsuhiko began "There's splatters everywhere"
"What?" Agasa Hakase asked and Ai sniffed the air. It smelled like blood a s gun powder causing her to frown. They all nodded in agreement to investigate the new mystery on their hands.
"Hey guys! I think these are bullet holes!" Genta exclaimed.
"Bullet holes?!" They exclaimed
"I don't even own a gun..." Agasa Hakase muttered to himself.
"Ai-kun! Call the police" Agasa Hakase ordered. Ai nodded and went to do as her guardian said only to discover the remains of the phone.
"We have a problem" Ai replied "The phone has been destroyed"
       Agasa Hakase fumbled for his cellphone only to once more be interrupted by the sounds of sirens as they pulled up to the house.
Meguire-kebu came in followed by most of the Division One Police Department.
"Ah Hakase" Meguire-kebu said
"You came here rather quickly Kebu" Agasa Hakase commented "How did you know that we needed you?"
"We had received a phone all alerting us that a crime was being committed in this residence"
"Looks like a battle happened" Takagi-kebu commented as he looked over the scene.
"There's glass on the couch, bullet holes and blood" Ayumi exclaimed
"Really?" Satou-keiji asked
"I was looking closer at the couch when I kneeled down and discovered a spot of blood"
"And then we found more splatters of blood!" Mitsuhiko exclaimed
"And bullet holes" Genta added.
"And the air has a very strong scent of gunsmoke." Ai replied feeling uneasy about the whole thing.
"That means there was a crime being committed here..." Meguire-kebu muttered "We should have forensics test that blood"
"That would take too long" Ai replied as they turned startled by her words. "I have a kit downstairs in the basement" she continued.
"Alright. Chiba, Shiratori, Satou go downstairs to check the blood" Meguire-kebu ordered.
                      "Sir!" Chiba, Shiratori and Satou all snapped to attention saluting before  following Meguire-kebu's orders. They headed to the basement where the kit was.
                      Meanwhile the others waited upstairs in the kitchen for the results.
                      Ten minutes later Chiba returned hastily.
                      "Kebu! You've got to see this?!" Chiba exclaimed before Meguire-Kebu could inquire why Chiba had reacted as he had.
                      "You've got a match?" Meguire-Kebu  asked
                      "You have to seee this! It's...just come see!" Chiba exclaimed
                       Baffled the others followed him down the basement stairs.
                      "Well?!" Meguire-Kebu demanded What do I really need to see?"
                       Chiba fiddled with the buttons pressing a few. It showed the sample of blood that Ayumi had accidentally stuck her hand.
                     "It's really strange Kebu. It says that there are two matches when there should only be one match." Chiba said
                     "This is the blood from the splatter that Ayumi-chan accidentally stuck her hand in." Chiba said as he pressed the next button. It showed two very different pictures and two very different names.
                    "Kudou Shinichi. Edogawa Conan?" Meguire-Kebu said before he realized what he had said eyes widening.
                    "Wait what?" Meguire-Kebu exclaimed.
Agasa Hakase and Ai's eyes widened.
Ai-kun" Agasa Hakase hissed under his breath.
"Fuck!" Ai breathed silently under her breath.
"How stupid of me not to think that this would happen" Ai said coldly. They turned to look at Haibara Ai who had spoken.
"Dammit. Of course that stupid machine would do that"
"Ai-chan what do you mean?" Satou-keji's question. She reached for another sample of blood.
"That's the blood sample found behind the couch" Shiratori said as Ai placed it in the machine.
The image of a gruffy looking man clad all in black appeared on the screen. Ai's eyes widened as she recoiled back knocking back the nearest chair.
                   "No!..."she gasped "oh no! It can't be!" She gasped fearfully.
                   "What is it Ai-kun? Agasa Hakase asked concerned about his adopted daughter.
                   "Them..." she whispered
                   "Them?" Meguire-kebu questioned before Ai repeated more frantically.
                   "It's Them!" She exclaimed all panicked as she whirled around to Agasa Hakase's.
                   "They've got him!" Ai exclaimed "It all fits! The blood, bullet holes, the smell of the gun smoke and the signs of a struggle!" Haibara Ai was panicking and it was so unlike the calm and collected Haibara Ai of before.
                    "Last night Kudou was attacked. He put up a hell of a fight! He was captured by Them!" She exclaimed in a rush.
                    "Ai-kun! Are you certain it was Them?" Agasa Hakase demanded as his own thoughts began to spiral into panic.
                     "The call!" Ayumi exclaimed suddenly "You said that you'd received a phone call that there was a crime being committed here at Hakase's!"
                    "Right!" Chiba-keji exclaimed "Yes Ayumi-chan is correct. There was a call that had us come out here so fast. However I don't have the exact details except there was the sounds of gunshots before the line was disconnected." Chiba-keji recounted.
                     "Ah!" Mitsuhiko exclaimed "Haibara-san! You said that the phone had been destroyed"
                    "Y-yeah" Ai replied shakily.
                     "Do you have a copy of the call?" Ayumi questioned
                     "It's still at Headquarters" Meguire-Kebu replied "Shiratori! Go get the call copy."
                    "Sir!" Shiratori exclaimed snapping off a salute.
                    Ai took a few breaths as she slipped off to her closet. She froze seeing the new addition to her closet.    
                    Haibara Ai took a deep breath closing her eyes trying to calm herself down to prevent the incoming panic attack. She retreated away to sit down while she waited.
                     Sure enough fifteen minutes later Shiratori had returned. He came down the steps holding the recording of the call.
                     "Did you get it?" Meguire-kebu asked
and Shiratori nodded "I did" he said placing it on the nearest table surface. He pressed play.
/Metropolitan Tokyo Police Headquarters/ came the operator's greeting.
/That is a very interesting choice of a code name/ came a very familiar voice of seventeen year old Kudou Shinichi. His voice didn't show an ounce of fear at all.
/You are a thorn in our side Kudou/came the sneer belonging to the gruff looking man.
/Hello?/ came the confused sounding operator's question.
   /You're making three very fatal mistakes Rum/ Shinichi continued /The first is breaking into Agasa Hakase's home, the second is attacking me intending bodily harm and three is letting me contact the police./ came Shinichi's strong voice as he kept facing down his attacker.
                /The sound of the gunshot startled the listeners.
                /Hello?/came the worried operator's voice  /Is there anyone there?/
              /The next shot will not miss/ came Rum's snarl easily heard on the line.
             /Give up Kudou! There is no way you'll ever win!/ the snarl continued.
/Fool. I will never give up! I will continue to fight through no matter what! Not even your criminal Syndicate The Black Organization will change my mind!/ Shinichi declared strongly.
"The Black Organization?" Meguire-Kebu questioned at Shinichi's words.
Crime syndicate?" Satou-keji and Takagi-keji questioned
/We'll see about that/Rum replied /there's many ways to change your mind!/ and then there was the final sound of the gunshot and dial tone as the connection was lost. Shiratori pressed the stop button. It was quiet.
                 "It was Them." Agasa Hakase began "You were right Ai-kun"
                 Ai stood up and walked to the closet opening. She walked back over setting down a paper with a knife stuck through it. She was pale as a ghost as she spoke "I found this stuck in my closet Kebu. I believe it further cements the facts of Them being involved" she said.
                  Meguire-kebu frowned as he cleared his throat before reading it aloud.
                  "We know who you really are! We've found the one who helped you on the Beika Hotel Roof. Give yourself up Sherry or both the detective and dove will die!" Meguire-kebu read out loud.
                   "The detective? The dove?" Ayumi asked
                   "What I would like to know is who's Sherry?" Mitsuhiko began noticing Agasa Hakase and Ai's wince at that name in particular.
                    'The detective is obviously Kudou Shinichi and the dove?' Ai thought a frown crossing her face.
                     "The dove? Who could possibly be that?" Agasa Hakase thought out loud.
                      "The detective is obviously referring to Shinichi. That much is obvious..." he continued
                     'Doves...doves...doves. It all comes down to doves. Who could possibly be Dove? It's referring to someone...' Ai thought racking her memories of all dove related.
                   'Magicians use doves...so do thieves...' Ai thought before she paused and re-examined her last thought train.
                   'Wait! That's it! I know who the Dove is referring too!' Ai exclaimed.
                   "Who could the dove be? Could it be someone else?" Takagi-keji asked as they brainstormed out-loud.
                   "I know who the Dove is!" Ai exclaimed.    
                   "We need to get to Ekoda now!"
                    "Eh?! You solved it?!" They exclaimed
                    "Enough chatter, we're running out of time! We've got to go to Ekoda now! Time is running out!" Ai barked out and they headed towards Ekoda.

Wow. This took forever to get out! I can't believe it's been almost two months since I last updated! Hopefully the next chapter will come out a lot sooner. Anyways! Time for me to have a snack and go to bed. Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
