The sound of thunder kept me restless through the night. The piercing noise rung through the house nonstop for hours.Beside me, Harry was fast asleep; his hands lazily draped over my waist as he lightly snored in his slumber. The deafening commotion didn't seem to be bothering him one bit, while the loud crashes and booms would often jolt me awake.
I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until the storm passed.
Slowly taking Harry's hands, I untangle them from my body as carefully as I could without waking him. The sudden rustling indicated that I failed.
"Y/N?" His voice was laced with weariness as he felt around the bed, searching for me.
"Harry, I can't sleep. I'm gonna go and watch TV for a while until the storm stops."
Standing over our bed, I look over at the alarm clock to find that it was almost three in the morning. He had to work early at the studio tomorrow, I felt sorry for awakening him.
"No baby, don't go. I'll stay up with you." He murmured his words but I had understood what he said.
Sighing, I got back into the sheets, and huddled close to Harry.
Our legs overlapped while my head was against his chest, making his heartbeat loud enough to hear. The rhythmic beating overpowered the roaring thunder from outside, soothing me. My heart seemed to slow down, synchronizing to his. His arms quickly repositioned themselves back to my waist, as he held me closer.
"It's the thunder, isn't it." He quietly mumbles; his voice as raspy as can be.
He knew I despised the sound. I nod slowly against his chest and I feel it rising as he takes a deep breath.
"Don't worry princess, it won't hurt you. You're with me."
His reassurance made me smile as I closed my eyes and intertwined my hand with his.
The sound of thunder dulled until it was merely a weak ringing. We held one another, falling asleep to the thumping of each other's heartbeat."I love you." I whispered to him; as sleep started to slowly overtake me. I was finally able to rest. The warmth between us spread through my whole being, heating me.
"I love you more." escapes his lips as the pitter-patter of the rain and the breathing of our bodies became my new favorite lullaby.
