Being home was much worse after having experienced freedom. Jisung just couldn't bring himself to show any kind of affection to his husband anymore, even though he really tried. He hated being at home, but no matter how much time he tried to spend outside the house, it didn't make him feel any better. Somehow everything he did just made him feel bad, even the things he usually liked. And he couldn't help but thinking about Minho no matter what he was doing. It was so weird. He would be brushing his teeth and wonder if Minho used the same tooth paste brand as him. These stupid little things, but it happened all the time. It was probably because he had gotten so used to the other's company during his trip.
What was even worse was that people seemed to have seen him and Minho around New York. The first person was one of Taeyeon's business partners who of course reported to his husband right away. Taeyeon came home and confronted him about it, and all Jisung could do was tell half the truth: That he'd met Minho at a bar and talked to him because it would have been rude not to. And that they'd met coincidentally a few more times but hadn't really spent much time together on either occasion.
Taeyeon didn't seem to be sure whether to believe him or not, but decided to do so. However, Jisung did notice that his husband became a bit more suspicious and didn't like leaving him alone anymore.
Unfortunately a lot of people had also told his parents they'd seen him and Minho in clubs, but he refuted all claims, calling it false allegations. Just like Taeyeon, his parents seemed skeptical but decided to believe him.
What was actually outrageous was that one person was spreading around that he'd seen him and Minho kissing in a club, followed by even worse rumors. This was the moment he noticed his husband's and parents' opinions change more towards open suspicion. And it wasn't even true! He was married, he clearly wouldn't try anything with anyone.
When Taeyeon heard about the gossip, he immediately questioned him after he came home. Jisung got furious that the other would even believe he would do such a thing, and they started shouting at each other. It was probably the worst fight they'd ever had.
Despite seeing how upset Jisung was, Taeyeon didn't seem to trust him anymore after that. He got extremely suspicious whenever he wanted to go out, and demanded to be informed about his location at least once per hour, if he didn't just send some household staff with him. At home he was more demanding as well, both on the romantic side and with his expectations on Jisung to support his business and lead the household. He'd always been somewhat understanding, but now he really wasn't anymore. There was constantly some uncomfortable tension around them.
Going out didn't feel any better, either. Even taking out the part about Taeyeon controlling where he went, wherever he was he could see people sticking their heads together and talking about him. They didn't even hide that they were looking at him. It made him feel extremely insecure and he wondered if this was how Minho felt every time he went somewhere. The worst was that it was all mostly because of some stupid rumors.
His friends tried contacting him all the time. In the beginning he ignored all their calls and messages because he didn't feel like having more people interrogating him about what happened. He wouldn't be able to tell them the truth. The only person he felt like talking to he couldn't talk to - even if he'd had his contact info, which he didn't.
After a while, he allowed Seungmin and Felix to come over, as the more empathetic ones of his friends. They were considerate enough not to ask about Minho at all, and just wanted to know how he was doing. He tried to explain to them how he felt without blaming anything on his marriage, but that only meant that they were sympathetic, but all the advice they gave him involved Taeyeon.
