His eyes were like saucers as he tried to understand what she'd said, but the shock of this stranger in the attic seemed to have slowed down his cognitive processing, as he just stared, slack jawed. She giggled at his frozen stature, before looking past him down the corridor as Fred's voice shouted up the stairs:

"GEORGE! DINNER!"

George tore his eyes away from her to look down the empty hall, and in the split second his gaze wasn't laser-focused on her, she slammed the door shut and flew up into the rafters of the attic. She heard him wrench the door open again, and pause as he realised, she wasn't there. He hauled himself up the ladder and his head appeared through the latch, whipping around as he tried to see where she went. George lifted himself into the room and ran to the terrace, and just as the door swung shut behind him, she flew down the ladder and out into the hall.

Chyort voz'mi. Well, she'd done it now, and she had no doubt that he was about to tell all about the phantom he'd seen on the ladder, thus exposing her, and ruining her isolation. Although, it was probably about time. There were only a few short weeks before they left for Hogwarts, and it made sense for her to do some bonding with the little detkas beforehand.

She flew down the stairs to the first floor, pausing as she heard a noise from the library and in the lights before a little bushy haired girl left the room, heading down stairs for dinner. At the slight creaking of the lamp, Hermione Granger shot it an accusing glare, before huffing, and muttering under her breath:

"I'm living in an actual haunted house...this is ridiculous...utterly ridiculous..." And stomping off down the stairs.

Once again, Magdalina wished sparrows could laugh. These kids...what funny little tots they were.

She flew off to the ground floor and perched above the kitchen doorway, just as another small boy wondered into the room for dinner. It would only be a matter of time before he followed, surely. She wouldn't have spooked him that much. He would be fine.

And sure enough, moments later, George came cannonballing down the hall, chest heaving with an alarmed look on his face. He slammed the door open again and stood in the doorway, his wide eyes staring down Sirius, who stared back confusedly.

"George, dear," Molly said as she levitated a tray of potatoes from the counter to the table with her wand. "Whatever is the matter?"

George blinked hurriedly a few times, as if trying to shake himself out of a trance. "There was...there was a girl...in the attic...the attic cupboard...with the ladder..."

"What are you talking about? All the girls in the house are at the table," asked Ginny through a mouthful of chicken.

"Well, obviously, why else would I be freaking out?! I've never seen her before in my life!" George was still ogling Sirius, clearly desperate for an explanation. Sirius simply chuckled to himself, which only alarmed George more.

"Ah," Lupin said in a calm, low voice, though he was clearly just as amused as Sirius. He exchanged a knowing look with Sirius before continuing: "She's finally chosen to make herself known – took her long enough..."

"Was she hot?" asked Fred, grinning curiously at his twin.

"Oh, for goodness' sake, Fred!" said Molly rather angrily.

"Did she say anything?" said Sirius.

George, who appeared much more confused than alarmed now. "Yeah...she said...she said: 'You can see me? You're not supposed to be able to see me,'-"
