Chapter 6

"I Dawnstar, leader of Moonclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I command them to you as a warrior in their turn. Cloverpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do."

"Then by the powers of, I give you your warrior name. Cloverpaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Cloverdust. Starclan honors your wisdom and strength, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Moonclan."

Hearing the cheering of his new name was a heartwarming feeling. He was officially a warrior of Moonclan and he could honor his mother and father's spirits. Cloverdust held his head high and smiled from ear to ear. He stepped back in line with his siblings and felt Brightpaw rest her tail on his shoulder.

"I'm so proud of you," she whispered.

"I Dawnstar, leader of Moonclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I command them to you as a warrior in their turn. Sparrowpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do."

"Then by the powers of, I give you your warrior name. Sparrowpaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Sparrowflame. Starclan honors your loyalty a power, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Moonclan."

Cloverdust watched his brother square his shoulders and look around at the cheering cats as if they were his own clan. Brightpaw was squirming  and fidgeting, almost unable to control her excitement a moment longer. Cloverdusk gave her a gentle tap with is paw to remind her to be still.

"I Dawnstar, leader of Moonclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I command them to you as a warrior in their turn. Brightpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do."

"Then by the powers of, I give you your warrior name. Brightpaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Brightmist. Starclan honors your compassion and sympathy, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Moonclan."

"I'm so proud of you," Cloverdusk whispered to his sister as she stepped forward to receive the cheers of her new name. "Our parents would have been proud."

"You really think so?" Brightmist turned to him and her eyes were large.

"I know Cinderstar and Sunheart are looking down on us right now." he promised.

"I want to show them I can be the best warrior of Moonclan, just like Sunheart was."

As the cheering died down there was an awkward silence as Dawnstar looked over at Fernpaw who had passed her Warrior Assessment but just barely. Everyone in the clan knew Fernpaw was going to be the most useless warrior that the clan had ever seen and nobody was eager to start working alongside her. 

"I Dawnstar, leader of Moonclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained to understand the ways of your noble code, and I command them to you as a warrior in their turn. Fernpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do." Fernpaw gave a slight shrug unenthusiastically. 

"Then by the powers of, I give you your warrior name. Fernpaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Fernwhisper. Starclan honors your attempts and drive, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Moonclan."
