The year is 2025, by now scientists have found a way to look into the future and see who your soulmate is. When you are born there is a clock implanted into your wrist. This clock tells exactly how long until you meet your soulmate. When you meet them, your wrist will start to glow as will your soulmates for a short time.
Dan had been told this for years, his mother said that when he was born his time was 17 years, 11 hours, 37 minutes and 42 seconds. Now that he was sixteen and close to turning seventeen, his anticipation only grew as the day he would meet his soulmate approached. Many questions floated around his head too. Will it be a girl? A boy? Are they older than me? Younger? The same age? He hoped he wasn't stuck with some fifty year old creep.
The second bell is what brings Dan out of his thoughts. Sighing, he headed to lunch where he sat with his friends Chris and Pj. Approaching the table, Dan saw Chris and Pj being all coupley. It was disturbing but he was used to it.
Chris had been Dan's friend since middle school. Then in their second year of high school, a new student, Pj, had transferred and it really was interesting to watch. It was I the hall between classes when Chris bumped into Pj, their wrists glowing blue(Pj) and red(Chris). Eventually their glowing both faded to a light purple and that was it.
Sitting down at the table, Dan thought more about his soon coming soulmate interaction. While thinking he pulled back his sleeve to check the time on his clock. 2 days, 12 hours, 27 minutes and 3 seconds it read. Dan didn't notice he gasped until Chris and Pj asked him why.
"Dan, what's wrong?" They asked simultaneously.
Unable to form words he just showed them his wrist.
"Oh! This is so exciting, on your birthday! That's quite the present!" Chris exclaimed after reading the time and his friends clock.
"Yeah, I guess. At least it will make up for my family being out of town" Dan replied sadly.
His 17th birthday and he wouldn't even be with his family. Both the other two boys gave him sympathetic glances.
" We could come over if you'd like?" It was a suggestion but it came out as more of a question.
"Thanks for the offer, but I think I should be alone for this." Dan said turning back to pick at his food.
*Phil's POV*
~later that night~
Another day, another late shift as a cashier at Tesco, Phil sighed inwardly, on my birthday.
Sure there had been a cupcake in the back room with a sticky note saying happy birthday, but that didn't change the fact that he was still there ringing up items for the straggling late night shoppers. At the moment there was no one in the store so out of curiosity he checked the time on his wrist. 1 day, 23 hours, 45 minutes, 20 seconds. Oh my god, Phil thought. It had been a while since he had checked his time so he had no idea the time was so soon.
Wait, he thought, I'm working then. That means they're going to be in the store.
Phil's mind was suddenly full of questions. Was it a boy? A girl? Are they younger than me? It didn't matter, even though he was 19 he wouldn't be considered a pedophile if they were his soulmate.
"Why would they be hear this late?" He wondered aloud to the empty store. I'll find out soon enough I guess, he thought.
Dan's POV
~Dan's birthday after school~
Despite not having my family home, my birthday has been pretty good, Dan thought.
Chris and Pj had sung him happy birthday at lunch but he had been nervous all day. He was meeting his soulmate tonight. That thought alone was terrifying.
It was a Friday, the whole weekend alone seemed fine to him. Invite Chris and Pj over, play video games. But tonight he wanted to himself. Homework complete, Dan checked the time on the wall. It was now around nine o'clock, his wrist said two hours.
He needed air.
Slipping on his shoes, not bothering to tie them, and grabbing a sweatshirt. He walked out the front door, locking it behind him, heading to the small park nearby.
~time skip to about an hour and fifty minutes later~
Dan didn't know how long he's been at the park but considering it was his birthday, he decided to stop at Tesco to get a small piece of cake.
The store was nearly deserted when he arrived, other than the people that worked there obviously. He wandered to the pastry isle looking for a single slice of cake. Deciding on a small, plain piece of white cake with birthday frosting, he headed towards the checkout area.
There was only one lane open. Dan didn't look up as he placed his pathetic excuse for a cake on the belt. He his head snapped up when the cashier spoke to him.
"That will be £4.57, please."
A blast of bright white light was all he could see once he looked at the cashier. Looking at himself, he saw a strange black light radiating from his whole body. The stranger's light was very obviously white. Their lights dimmed but they still continued to glow a soft silver color.
Now that he could see the person properly, he had to keep his jaw from dropping. The man in front of him couldn't have been been much older than himself. He had black hair cut into a fringe, like his own, but sweeping to the right. His eyes were a shade of blue Dan had never seen before and his skin was as pale as snow. Lips plump and pink, he was a few inches taller than Dan. The stranger was beautiful, Dan decided, there was no other way to say it.
Phil's POV
Black. That was all he could see for a moment before realizing it was the color of coming from the stranger in front of him.
He, the stranger, had brown hair in the same style as his own but going the opposite direction. His eyes were brow as well but they were a beautiful chocolate shade. Tan skin and thin pink lips were added to the beauty before him. The other was also a little bit shorter than himself and he presumed that he was also younger as well.
"Um.... Hi, I'm Phil and I do believe we are soulmates." Phil said with a timid smile.
"I do believe so as well. I'm Dan, and I think we will be spending a lot of time together." The stranger, Dan, said smile wide.
Phil smiled back, "Yeah, think we will." Because he thought that this seemed to be the start of something very special.
A/N: Hi. So this is my first completed story. Let me now if you want me to do any more or if you want me to continue with this one. Thanks!
