When you had received an invite the other day you had assumed that it was to another neighbor's gathering. Not that it would be a town meeting.
Ever since you had moved in the town couldn't seem to get enough of you. In the past couple of days you had received around five invitations to house parties, clearly homemade too as some glitter had flown off one you had made the mistake of tossing across your living room.
This shouldn't have bothered you as much as it did. You were a new person in a small town, of course people would be curious. But by now you were certain they should have gotten the message that you weren't interested. Your two weeks in Beach city so far had been spent inside, trying to make sure your new home was up to your very selective standard and away from any town citizens.
If they were so insistent though then fine. You were willinging to socialise, but on your own terms. Which was why you had decided to attend.
Digging into the back pocket of your trousers, you pulled out a map you had acquired from a store during your first day at Beach City. The invite had said it would be held at a hall you had remembered catching sight of while taking a detour home one day. Making a mental note to set an alarm later, you flopped onto your couch spending the rest of the day mindlessly watching Netflix.

You managed to arrive just prior to the meeting starting. It turned out you weren't good at time keeping and may have missed your alarm screeching at you for well over ten minutes. You placed a hand to your chest, trying to steady your breaths.
Whatever this meeting was about, it definitely had not been worth you sprinting.
You opened your mouth to complain to whoever was next to you...only to immediately shut it and stiffly turn your head to look at your shoes.
Now you had been cutting your sleep off by an hour to go to the store undisturbed, but surely that shouldn't have been enough to cause you to hallucinate right?
And yet here you were, wide eyed sitting next to some kind of creature. It was an assortment of oranges and reds that paved its skin like the surface of a marble. Not to mention that from the quick glance you had gotten, you thought you saw horns.
Eventually, you looked up and around the hall, finding more strange creatures everywhere you turned. This was probably why there was coffee by the door.To your far right there was a green alien or child in a suit with a lime slice of pie for hair sitting next to a blue slightly taller being.
What in the world was going on?
There were regular people here too though interacting with these beings.
You knew this couldn't be a dream but these looked too real to be skin suits or cosplay. You could feel your heart rate picking up, fear seeping into you as you grew more confused. What in the world were you witnessing? Should you have done actual research when moving here?
"Hey everyone!" Everyone's attention was drawn to the front where a dark-haired male stood. It was hard to make out his features as you were near the back, but he was clearly tired, evident solely by the raspiness of his voice. Despite this however, he seemed to radiate warmth as he spoke his voice reaching every part of the hall.
"How is everyone?"
You heard a couple of murmurs and very enthusiastic clapping from someone in the front.
"Err...That's good to hear"
You awkwardly chuckled this desperately trying not to catch the eye of your seat neighbour and hoping whatever it was couldn't sense fear.
