Alex was making coffee while watching the news in his lair. Happily humming while seeing the robbery Morgan has been planning for months appear on the news.

~5 people in coma and 10 dead after bank robbery. Robber and murderer at large.~

Wow. He thought. If he didn't know better he would say it wasn't Morgan's robbery. The one he spent every night for quite a while writing out and finding the people for. Eh maybe Morgan's finally grown a backbone and decided to do a flashy robbery. Who was he to judge if that's the case? At least Morgan would be getting some sleep tonight for once without him nagging. It started flashing pictures of the victims and their names and he turned off the news not thinking this information to be important.

He tried calling Morgan's phone but it just ringed. He probably had to hop a few towns over. Figures hed shut his phone off. Sighing he sets his coffee down and goes to talk to one of his minions. It'd be a day or two and Morgan will pop up again sending him a letter like always. Until then hed have fun ripping into the hero's as usual.

Over the next few days he worked on Morgan's birthday present. A pair of wrist cuffs made with a small tool kit and touch activated lights so he could work in the dark and not have to carry around and tool kit. He was 74% sure Morgan would absolutely love it. Although just like with any gift he worried that it wouldn't hold up as good as he thought it would. He tended to put less wear on things with his powers at his fingertips then others. So he hushed himself into working on it. Doing prototype after prototype. Having some others test it out aswell to make sure they could use it easily.

He tried his hardest to not prioritize checking his mail too much. But even while trying to not sit by it and wait he checked it around twice a day. He could already Picture Morgan's excited half cursive writing. Alex noted over the years that when he was excited he didn't take his time and made the L's loops. The space between the letters more crunched and slanted. He could almost smell the pen ink that Morgan used. Cheep pens that he bought in bulk with almost dark rust colored ink he has come to associate with Morgan. The oils from his hand on the paper giving it a faint smell of him aswell.

Alex's abilities came with a lot of sensory issues. Lots of lights hurting his slit sensitivite eyes. A lot of fabrics and textures feeling extremely uncomfortable on his skin. But the texture of paper with that stupid ink on it paired with Morgan's smell was strangely very calming to him. It meant Morgan was safe. And that he wanted to let Alex know that. So it makes sense that after 5 days checking the mail he was starting to get very worried. He pushed the horrible grippy black metal door to the mail box open and looked inside. Empty. "Fuck." Sighing he took out his phone and started to call people.

First calling his guards. "Hey have you seen Morgan lately????? Has he contacted any of you for help or anything?" "No? Um ok." Hanging up he then called relented. Calling Morgan's sister. "Oh hey! Thanks for picking up. It's alex. Look I know I'm not really on good terms with your guys sense the whole switching sides thing but have you seen Morgan????"

The world seemed to almost freeze as he heard Morgan's sister give him a hospital and a room number. He almost dropped his phone but luckily caught it before interrogating his sister more. Finding out that during the robbery one of Morgan's teammates messed with the buildings structural integrity and had brought the roof down on them by accident it seems. Morgan had thankfully been able to be a alclaimed victim instead of one of the villains who attacked and is being housed at the hospital. "Ok....thank you."

Alex hung up still in slight shock from hearing that as he raced inside for his shoes and his glasses. He could fix this right? He has to be able to fix this. What if it's been too long for him to be able to fix it? He froze at that thought in the middle of tying his shoes. "It's never happened before it won't happen now." He said trying to calm himself by saying it out loud. You can't bring someone back if their dead. And he just ruined his appetite for the rest of the day.

He walked not so calmly into the hospital fixing his glasses and sighing in to visit Morgan. Trying to keep himself from running as he speed walked to the room number and walked in. Stopping again seeing his friend. He would look like he was peacefully sleeping if it weren't for all the medical equipment.
