Chapter 2

Writer's POV

Sachin Mehta, best friend of Nitin Hegde: Aashna's father, was sitting in his study in his mansion and was in deep thought; worry could be seen on his face. The reason for his worry was Aashna. He received the news from his source that Karthik Ahuja was marrying off Aashna to save his business from drowning.

He recalled the time when his best friend Nitin asked him to take care of his little girl, no matter what. He swore to his dying friend that he would take care of Aashna because he knew that Nitin's wife Ankita would never take care of Aashna. He knew what kind of woman Ankita was.

He stood up from his chair and made his way to see his wife, Mallika Mehta.
She was sitting in the living room, reading some magazine; he sat beside her and told her about the situation.

"Oh my god, Sachin we can't let this happen!" Mallika worriedly said to her husband as she held his hands.

Mallika knew everything, she was also Nitin's friend back in college and also knew how Ankita abhorred her own daughter. So, they both had decided to take care of Aashna, what they didn't know that a barrier had been put in their way to help Aashna. Ankita married Karthik Ahuja and it became difficult for them to do help as they couldn't enter Ahuja's house and couldn't meddle in their family matters.

So, they had decided to help the girl secretly by appointing a man who would follow the girl whenever she's out of the house; they made sure that Aashna got no harm. That man followed her and reported everything to the Mehtas, luckily they never received the news of any physical harm. They even made sure that the man they appointed followed her when she went to college in Chicago. They were always aware of her whereabouts.

Looking at her worried wife, Sachin squeezed her hands softly and said, " Don't worry love, we will do something, we will not break the promise we made to our friend."

"But Sachin, we don't have time to think, we have to act fast. Ahuja's will soon tie her knot to that man and I know they will not even ask for that girl's choice" Mallika said to her husband.

"Yeah, I know that man very well. He is disrespected in the business world and is not good as a person as well." He said.

Sachin already had a solution but was hesitant to tell his wife. He didn't know whether she would like the idea or not. Still, he thought to give it a shot.

"Umm...Mallika, I...I kind of have a solution but it seems to be difficult and I don't know if you will like it or not but this idea came to my mind just now and I think is our last hope."

"What solution?" she asked intriguingly. Any solution at this intense moment would be welcomed. All she wanted was for Aashna to be safe.

"I was thinking of investing in Karthik's business and will offer him a good deal which he would not be able to reject and in return, I will ask him Aashna's hand for our son for marriage." He said while looking at his wife, thinking if she would agree or not, or if she would get angry at him.

Mallika was looking at his husband with wide eyes as if she had received a shock.

Looking at her wife's reaction he thought she didn't like the idea so he explained further, "I know this is a rash decision but I think this is the only thing we can do right now as we don't have time and I don't mind making Aashna my daughter-in-law. We will not have to worry about her because she will be in safe hands."

"Sachin, oh my goodness, this is a fantastic idea!" Mallika squeaked. "Goodness, I would love to make Aashna my daughter-in-law, I know she would be perfect for our son". She said excitedly as she hugged her husband.

But her excitement vanished instantly.
"But Sachin, will our son accept this? You know our son and his lifestyle, he will not take this lightly." Mallika muttered disappointingly.

"Yes, I know. But we have to give it a shot. We have to make him accept this for his own good, for Aashna. Because that girl is a pure soul." He said.

"Agreed. Okay, let's talk to him and I hope he agrees to this. This is the best we can do for both of them." Mallika said hopefully.

"Hmm...I guess first I should give a visit to Karthik and offer him my deal so that he will not marry off Aashna to anyone else. Then we will talk to our son. "Sachin replied.

The same day Sachin visited Karthik since he didn't want to delay this. And as he thought Karthik agreed immediately.

Of course, Karthik had to agree because he was getting a good deal and after all, the famous Sachin Mehta was investing in his company and the burden of Aashna was getting off of his shoulders. He couldn't be happier.
