The child cried as she saw her father go down with blood pouring out of the gunshots he received to the chest. A strange man had pulled a gun on the two of them while they walked home from the movies asking for money. Even after he was given the money he still wanted more so he had shot the father multiple times and ran. She knew she was going to lose him too from the amount of crimson that was all around the father.

She had already lost her mother the previous year after a long and hard battle against cancer. Her father had struggled to take care of her on his own but he did the best he could and made things great for her even when money was short.

But life is unfair.

It was going to take away what was left of her happiness. She clutched her dying father's hand as she screamed for help as it started pouring rain. Some part of her knew no one would come in time but it was all she could do for the man that cared and loved her no matter what. He had always been there for her but now he was going to leave her in the cruel reality we call life. Unknown eyes, glowing sadly as they watched from the dark unnoticed.

Ten years later.

"Rachel, get up. If you don't get up now and get ready, you're gonna miss your plane."

I groaned as I looked at the clock that said 5AM and grumbled.

"Fiiiine. But I hope you know if I didn't have to get on this plane I would gladly kick your ass for waking me up!" I practically growled.

"No you wouldn't. You love me too much Ray." My best friend and roommate Tyler said.

"Wanna test that theory?"

"No I rather not. Please and thank you." Giving me his goofy smile.

"And I'm the one driving you to the airport. Did you ever think about that?"

Yep. I'm gonna kick his ass.

"Well, if you don't mind Mr.Smartass, I would like to change."

"Hurry up then. Cuz I wanna get my Starbucks on the way." He complains in the living room.

Sometimes I think Tyler is just a spoiled white girl in a man's body. Now is one of those times.

"I'm getting dressed as fast as I can. Now calm down before you get your panties in a twist."

I dress in knee high combat boots with black jeans, a maroon shirt and my leather Sons of Anarchy jacket from the tv show. Along with the necklace that had my mom's and dad's wedding rings.

My name is Rachel D'Angelo. My mom,  Rose Maria D'Angelo, died of cancer when I was younger. My father, Mathew D'Angelo, was shot in front of me after being mugged when I was 8. He died before the police or paramedics arrived.

I have his jet black hair that is always straight and my mother's silver eyes and pale skin. That wasn't all I got from my parents.

I wasn't exactly what you would call…….. fully human.

My mother was a human medium. She could see beyond the supernatural veil into the land of the dead and see spirits of those who couldn't pass on. I could as well.

My father on the other hand was the product of an unfortunate night between a human and a demon. Before he met my mother he was known to the supernatural  as the Crimson Knight, one of the few defenders of humanity. He stopped everything once he found out my mother was pregnant with me. Sadly there were still people who wanted to see him gone for good. You know how that ended…
