After making their way down a few streets, Kitsune and Chris stood together outside a quaint looking bistro. The walls were a pearly white, with ivy growing on them. Emerald green curtains were visible on the inside of the windows. The glass doors on the front of the establishment allowed them to see more clearly into the building.
"What do you think?" Chris spoke up, getting the redhead's attention. "It looks really pretty! Kinda like something out of a movie." Kitsune responded, smiling.
"Heh, I suppose it does, doesn't it. Come along now, let's go in. I've heard good things about this place." Chris stated, taking her hand and guiding her inside.
After getting a table, a young waitress approached them, a friendly smile on her face. "Hello there, you two. My name is Shirley, and I'll be takin' care of you today. Can I get ya any drinks to start you off?" The woman asked, a southern accent noticeable in her voice.
"Just a coffee for me, please." Chris responded. Shirley nodded, writing it down. "'Kay, one coffee. What about you, sugar?" She asked, looking to Kitsune. "Um- just a lemonade for me, please." The redhead responded.
"Alrighty then! I'll be back with your drinks in just a moment!" Shirley stated, walking off. Kitsune smiled a bit, enjoying both the atmosphere and Chris's company. She really needed to work up the courage to tell him how she really felt about him one of these days..
"So what do you think of this place so far?" Chris asked. "Huh- oh, it's really pretty. It feels... calm here." Kitsune responded. "I'm glad you think so. If you don't mind my asking- are you alright? You seemed pretty lost in thought for a moment there." Chris questioned.
"Yeah, I'm ok. Just, ah, thinking." Kitsune responded, before a thought slipped into her head. What if she actually tried flirting with him? Would he be into it? Well, it definitely would've been a good step into giving her the courage she'd need for when she finally confessed.
With a deep breath, she continued. "But y'know... That's a little difficult, considering your prettiness is distracting me. Not that I mind though." She stated, giving as casual of a smile that she could muster.
Chris looked up, caught off guard. "What?" He asked, thinking he heard her wrong. "I mean, I'm not wrong. You are really pretty. I've always thought so." Kitsune shrugged, fighting back a smirk when she saw the slight blush on her taller friend's face.
"That's funny coming from you, you know. You're quite beautiful yourself." Chris attempted to counter. Kitsune squeaked, blush now visible on her own face. Before she could retort, Shirley came back- seeming to be quite entertained.
"Hope I'm not interruptin' your little flirting battle." She chuckled, setting their drinks down on the table. "I'll let y'all decide what you wanna order and come back." She told them, walking off once again.
The rest of their time there was very enjoyable. They left the restaurant an hour later, satisfied. As they walked home, Kitsune felt relatively confident in herself. She believed that she'd be able to confess soon.
Perhaps on the weekend.
