Move Night Confessions

Prompt: you and Spencer have a movie night where feelings begin to arise and confession start to happen

"10 Things I Hate About You?" You questioned side eyeing Spencer sitting on the couch next to you

"Nah" He responds with a shrug turning his eyes back to the television displaying your Netflix account

"That is the thousandth movie I have suggested Spencer, pick one" you state holding the television remote in front of his face.

"That's a little excessive, it's the eighth movie you suggested, not the thousandth" Spencer laughs lowering your hand from in front of his face and taking the remote from your hands, brushing his hand with yours.

His touch sends shivers across your body. You have been friends with Spencer since you began work at the BAU, but the last few months you have become closer friends, eventually leading to you developing feelings for the boy genius. Although Spencer seemed none the wiser.

"Well it feels like I've suggested a thousand movies to you. Maybe we should switch to Disney+ if you can't decide on anything here" You laugh giving his arm a small push

"Yeah we could do that... Oh wait how about Inception" Spencer states leaning forward excitedly pointing at the screen.

"Oh good choice" turning your head towards Spencer and smiling as he navigates towards the movie and presses play.

You loved the way his eyes lit up when he became excited, how his nose moved when he smiled and his dimples became pronounced on his face. The way his brown hair curled down and laid by his ears, stray curls landing on his forehead. You had every aspect of his face memorized, his handsome, perfect ...

"Hey you know the beginning part of the movie is important" He laughs looking towards you pointing towards the screen where the movie has already begun.

Snapping you out of your thoughts you feel your face begin to warm up as you let out a breathy laugh with eyes widened you turn your face to watch the screen. Hoping he was not too aware of how uncomfortable you felt, since the realization of your feelings for Spencer you tried to make it as subtle as possible, however in doing so sometimes your gaze would unintentionally linger a little too long, or your touch would stay on his arm for a few extra seconds.

"Are you okay, do you want to watch the movie? We can choose a different one." He places a hand on your shoulder.

"No no, I love this movie, it's a good choice" you state tapping his hand to reassure him that you are okay.

"You seem uncomfortable, you rub your hands together when you are nervous, and your foot has been tapping on the floor" Spencer asks, still looking at you as if the movie has been forgotten.

Your foot stops, suddenly you become very aware of your senses, how close Spencer is sitting to you, his leg almost touching yours, how he smells and the lingering scent of fresh baked cookies still in the air from earlier this evening. You become aware of his eyes looking right at you as if they are burning a hole through your mind to find exactly what he is looking for, thoughts swirling in your head.

Spencer speaks again, you realize it has been a few moments since he last asked if you were okay, and you had not responded

"Seriously y/n what is going on?" Spencer asks, sounding a little more serious pausing the movie leaving the room to fill with silence.

"Nothing, I was lost in thoughts" You laugh attempting to put on your most nonchalant face

"We are profilers, I don't mean to profile you but I notice that when I am around you seem nervous, I've watched you speak with Derek, Penelope, even Hotch and you are perfectly fine, but around me you're... well just different." Spencer pauses and sighs "Did I do something to hurt you or make you feel uncomfortable, because if I did, I'm sorry." He almost whispers the apology as if he is holding back a floodgate of emotions

"Spencer, no, no it's not you. I'm so sorry I made you feel that way" If there was going to be a time to tell Spencer this was it

"I guess I just don't feel the same way about Penelope, Derek, and Hotch as I do for you. I have been worried about how... or if I should tell you. I thought maybe if i kept it to myself long enough, those feelings for you would dissipate, but they don't, and I didnt know how to tell you... but I guess i just did" you choke back the lump forming in your throat, you felt vulnerable, scared, excited, and nervous all at the same time. Spencer sat there for a moment, eyes glued to you, you could feel your heart pounding in your ears and were quite sure he could hear it.

"I didn't expect...you to like me too"

"Too?" you say almost a little too abruptly

"Yes too, I couldn't figure out how to tell you, I wanted there to be a perfect moment, but it never came... until now" he places his hand on top of yours which was resting on your thigh. You smile crinkling your nose in an attempt to hold in your excitement that Spencer Reid just confessed his mutual feelings to you.

"Oh by the way y/n you look pretty cute when you're staring at me, I mean lost in your thoughts" Spencer winks as he turns back to press play on the movie.
