So today was chaos. That's probably not the best way to start out. I'm Emerson, I'm 17 and non binary. I just moved to Alani Granda High after an um, an accident at my old school. My parents and I moved down here to get a new start. I started a few weeks ago and somehow I'm already at the top. Back at my old school, I was the nerdy band kid. Now people are always wanting to talk to me. I finally escaped the crowd and make it to homeroom. There's a bunch of underclassmen in my homeroom, so I don't know much about them. There’s this one girl in my art class, Kalani I think. I’m not really sure. She’s always drawing something, I’ve seen a few of her works and they’re amazing. I sit in the front and pull out some homework. Normally people just talk and play on their phones, I normally use it to get ahead since I joined late in the year. The teacher started telling the others about the extracurriculars you could do to get extra credit. Thankfully, the bell rings as everyone starts going to first period. I get up once everyone leaves, almost everyone. The girl is still at her desk, I guess she wasn't paying attention. I walk over to her desk and tap her on the shoulder. She looks up quickly, her eyes look just like emeralds. “Hey, The bell rang. You might wanna head to your class,” I said, trying not to scare her away. She was so much smaller than me, I was surprised she was a junior. I helped her pick up some of her stuff. “Oh, thank you,” She responded. Her face was a bit red, maybe she’s under the weather? She pushed up her glasses as her watch started to freak out. Not again. Just like last time. “Everything okay?” I said looking down at her watch. “Yeah! Everything’s alright, I’m sure it’s nothing,” She responded, covering her watch with her Jacket sleeve. She smiles at me, but something seems off with it. Her face changes quickly, “Look out!” She yelled, grabbing my hand. I suddenly felt a strong tug come from behind me. I held onto her tightly, hoping she’d pull me out. I suddenly got yanked in, pulling her in with me. We landed on the streets of New York, or what the history books said it looked like at least. She landed on top of me, catching her was the least I could do. She looked at me and turned bright red in the face. “Sorry! I am so sorry,” she said, getting off me quickly. “It’s alright, you didn’t get a choice,” I respond, getting up and looking around. It’s so different, the watch must’ve sent us back. I can’t believe this happened again. Well, at least I know what to expect this time. Looks like today’s gonna be a bit different from what I planned.
