This is based off of bumblesquee15's story Come With Me, taking place the night after Dereri and Monspeet were turned back from Induras. It was my personal take of possible inner turmoil for the reader in regards to possible guilt she felt towards the incident after all the Demons were massacred. It never was really explored- the effect it had on Meliodas or Elizabeth specifically after witnessing it. But I figured, since she'd been so adamant about peace and tranquility between the races and no more bloodshed, there would have to be some reaction right? Along with having promised Dereri that no harm would come to her and that she had only wanted to have them leave for their own safety, but Ludioceil twisted it to her having stalled and played them so he'd have time to prepare his little "show".
That and, a primary reason why Meliodas finally decided to show Elizabeth to their parents. Perhaps as an example that Yes, demons and goddesses can get along. I could definitely see Meliodas internalizing that guilt and forgetting in part why he'd done that, and it even surfaced when he didn't have his emotions in Chapter 69. "How could you? I was the one who wanted to present Elizabeth to our parents because I was fed up with living in the Fairy King's Forest... Why would you love me when my powers hurt you? All I do is hurt you, [Y/N]."
So I figured "Why not explore that with this story that I love so much?" I've been wanting to write something for this story for ages and finally consolidated the motivation to do it.
Disclaimer: I used my own OC as the reader for my own ease, though feel free to substitute her name for your own. Secondly, this is just a personal opinion, but Reader is fairly tall- taller than Elizabeth, and I've always enjoyed the fact that Meliodas is perpetually shorter so I'm keeping the height difference between them marginal as he is taller in Come With Me.
Anyways, without further adieu, here's my Headcanon Meliodas x Reader (OC)

The blonde sat patiently by the campfire, watching the flames dance to a silent tune as a reticent breeze tantalized their embers, their warm glow illuminating the quaint grotto. Behind him in her hammock slept soundly his beloved daughter, the muted thump of her resting heart lulling the demon into what was usually tranquility. Alas, its typical soporific effects were rendered futile, his leg bounced sporadically as his nerves continued to fray further and further.
Fifteen minutes prior, the mother of their beloved silverette had left after Elizabeth had fallen asleep with the bidding words of commencing one final round of Stigma. The 'battle' with the demon army led by Monspeet and Dereri had occurred just mere hours prior, and she'd insisted that she wanted to make sure all was well before turning in for the night. Despite his minor skepticism, he nodded and said alright. Meliodas was beginning to regret his complacency.
Finally he couldn't take it any longer. Rising in one swift, startling motion, the blonde pivoted, taking off in the direction his beloved brunette had left in, emerald eyes ablaze, scanning the path and the rabbit trails that diverged from it. His nose wriggled as he sniffed, following the familiar, soothing perfume of the maiden. Like a horse on a lead he trailed after each twist and turn her route took, up until it sharply banked into the woods. He took pause then, previous concern now escalated to distress. Pivoting as sharply, Meliodas took off into the forest, footsteps light and a blur. Darkness swirled in his now obsidian eyes, the familiar warmth of the crest upon his forehead burning with that intensified apprehension, senses strained to their utmost capacity to locate the one he held dearest to him.
What had felt like ages ended up to amount to a couple minutes when he finally found her. Out of breath, he panted lightly a ways away from her, hands rested on his knees. He peered between his cowlick to finally look at her, and properly register their surroundings. Milari sat, huddled against the roots of an ancient cedar, knees tucked nearly flush to her chest, slender arms locking them to her body. Her face was buried between her knees, ears just the slightest bit peeking from behind olive flesh of her upper arms. The sight tugged painfully at a few of his hearts already, but once he finally registered her trembling shoulders and heard the muffled sniffles, did all his seven hearts cracked a little.
