Can you see me?

"Why can't you just notice me for once!?"

              I woke up with total panic washing over me. It was the nightmare. It came back.  I got up and out of bed, walked over to the kitchen and put a bagel in the toaster. I freaking love bagels. While my bagel cooked I went downstairs to look out some clothes for school. I went with an anime shirt, a stripy shirt underneath, and a pair of baggy pants. I was trying so hard to make myself noticeable. My bagel popped so I went to go get it. I spread some butter on it before eating it at the speed of light. It was already 7:46 am. I needed to brush my hair and teeth faster than I've ever done before. I put on some eyeliner and covered up my eczema with foundation. I looked at myself in the mirror. "I look noticeable. Let's hope people choose me today." It was then 7:52. I ran downstairs and rallied all my things together as I heard my mum pulling into the garage. She walked in the door in scrubs, of course, she was a nurse. I grabbed my phone and ran out the door to catch the bus. "Evie, your mask!", my mum shouted. I dashed back into the house grabbed it, and ran back out.  

I got to the bus stop just as the bus was coming down the street. I got on board and immediately put in headphones and started listening to music. After about 15 minutes of a ride, we got to the school. I walked down a little alleyway in the front of the school to say good morning to Asher. I said hi to Asher but he was too focused with his other friends to even notice me. I didn't like his friends. They all smoked. I was asthmatic so I didn't stay long. They were also scary, just another reason to walk away. 

I walked into the school and over to my locker. I said morning to Sarahi and she gave me a tiny wave then immediately went to go talk to her other friends. Sarahi was smart. Very smart. She could solve massive math equations in her head. Jaycee came over to her locker and greeted me with a huge smile. She was with Asher. Just as I was about to talk, she walked away and over to Kayla and Juliet. I hate those girls. I can't believe I used to be their friends. 

The bell rang and I sat down in the second row to the back. I sat behind Juliet. You have no idea how badly I wanted to choke her out with my headphones. Apparently she was dating Kayla? They did it for attention when we were in a fight at first but Kayla got too attached. They wanted to be friends again and my dumbass said yes. I don't talk to them. 

After an excruciating 4 hours of work lunch started. I tried to eat with Jaycee, Asher, Kayla and Juliet but they all just disappeared after I sat down. Asher went out to go hangout with his other friends so I was left alone. I packed my stuff up and moved over to where Sarahi, Aisha, Geoanna and Myla were sitting. Myla was my best friend out of school and we played together all the time but she seemed to be ashamed of me in public.  While they all chatted and had a blast I just sat there in silence eating my dinner leftovers from a thermos. Nobody spoke to me, I was just there.  When will this terrible invisibility potion wear off? I had tried so hard to be noticed and nobody noticed me. 

There was one person who noticed me however, Moe. Moe has been my best friend since preschool. I don't get to see her because she lives in my hometown. I always play with Moe and Myla after school. Moe always had my back and I always had hers. I could never seem to keep Moe off my mind, I was always fantasizing about what stupid things we were gonna do next. 

Lunch passed and before I knew it I had fell asleep in science. The kid next to me was annoying but he let me sleep, so he can keep his knees for that.  Next came social, then the end of the day. I tried talking to Aisha but all we could relate about was animal crossing, she stopped playing months ago so I guess we just had nothing to talk about and I was silenced by another person. 

While I was spaced out I heard our teacher say "We're doing a project, you may pick your partners.". Great, I was going to be alone. I still had a little bit of hope, so I looked at Jaycee with the typical "want to be partners" face. She didn't even look at me. She was staring at Asher. I looked at Myla but she was looking at Geoanna. I tried looking at Aisha but she was looking at Sarahi. I got so desperate, I looked at everyone in class but they were all looking at someone else. I gave up, guess I'm working alone again.
