What was pain, anyway? Was it the feeling you got when crimson blood flows out of a wound in soft skin? Was it the sensation you got when an illness captured you in its hold and wouldn't let you breathe without causing you a severe burn in your lungs? Was it what you endured when you lost a part of yourself with someone? Was it the ache that the cracks and shatters in your soul caused you?
Whatever it was, it was a sensation. An overwhelming feeling that drowned you in it and made you scream for mercy. It was different for everyone, feared by some and enjoyed by others.
Lillian Singh and Myra Carter were no strangers to pain. Their pasts were tainted with the stain that was caused by it, and they knew their future wasn't free of it.
