Yunjin
It was oddly windy now. The warm sun rays that tingled through my skin earlier replaced itself with such bitterly cold breeze. The numbness of my feet didn't help either. Besides all of the physical aftermath of my own consequences, my mind has stopped processing thoughts the moment I stepped out of the back door. He must think that I bailed him. It has been long since I decided to stand here and look like a total fool.
Beside me was the moss covered wall and some greenery. This is probably the closest I could get to him. I could hear his prominent long sighs and quiet mutters, letting me stay curious about his words. He could say anything. He could already be cussing me out at the moment.
"It's been a while. Is she okay?" his frigid tone sends me shivers, much more than the cold air that's been bothering me. I inch myself closer to the end of the wall, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Jungkook stood exactly in front of the entrance door, in confusion as he keeps on peaking through the glass. His small ramblings makes me want to hear more.
Curious as ever, my fingers dig into the cement crack hoping to support my body from losing balance and eventually exposing where I am hiding. I try to get my head closer, partially sticking it out amongst the small green potted plants that has been scattered around the establishment.
I pause for a moment, hand trembling until I finally lose grip. I try to lessen the damage by twisting my torso and facing my back onto the cement. Despite the great effort it took to not embarrass myself again, I managed to knock a plant over that ended up spewing dirt all over me. "Yunjin, are you alright? How long have you been standing here?"
In a panicked manner, I rush to stand up. I attempt to rub the dirt off of my face, but the debris was too powdery to take off with my two bare hands alone. Still bewildered by sudden events, he takes careful steps towards me and starts to examine the hideous state that I'm in.
After seeing him stand in front of me, I reluctantly closed my eyes as I felt a small yet painful sting. He lets out a small gasp, noticing the situation that I am in. I could hear the boisterous sounds of heavy metal and leather scraping. Just then, I could feel him grabbing onto my wrist before handing over a cloth of sorts. "You're trembling. I suppose it's because of the weather ...or might it be because you're hesitant to approach me?"
"I'm sorry I took too long. I didn't mean to, I promise!" I spat out and proceeded to wipe my face. It took me quite a while to remove the dirt off of me especially the ones near my eyes. After I did, I could finally see him standing in front of me closer than I have thought. I quickly folded the cloth, but it would be rude of me to give it back to him as it was stained with dirt. I open my mouth, but not a word came out.
I could only glance at his figure before my eyes came to see what he was looking at. He has his eyes fixed on a certain something. He took a lengthy look at the view of a pitiful woman and by her side was her children, small and grown. Each one of them looked malnourished and begrimed, as if they were working in the fields all day. As I glanced at them once more, I couldn't help but recall the former days of my youth.
"The sun doesn't shine in the morning, yet a mother and her children hurried over to the fields to see if their crops were ready to harvest and sell." he mutters before releasing a long sigh. It didn't take long until they walked past us and disappear into the vacuous streets. His words made me look at him in awe, speechless like before. He lowers his head and stares at me with disheartened eyes. "I can see potential in your offer, but do you really want to risk everything? I can't assure you that we will have a fortunate life."
"To be honest, I was terrified of what you would think of me after I told you such stupid words. I knew nothing more than your youthful self of the past, and yet I spat out such things. I'm sorry." I explained, pausing to find the right words. Each second came in tune with my pounding heart, and the endless drops of sweat came by faster despite the cold breeze constantly caressing my skin.
