Chapter 13

Present; Southampton

Julia's POV
"Good morning baby" he yawns "good morning, are they here yet?!"
This brings a smile to my face, he is so anxious "not yet baby but we have to prepare for school while waiting for them ok?"
"Ok mommy". We performed our activities as usual in a way that no one would have noticed a change but there is a little bounce in Jamie's step that shows how excited and anxious he is.

We are just finishing breakfast when we hear a honk and Jamie is already on his feet running to the door. I try to stop him but i already know he won't so i just smile and go after him.

"Mrs Charlotte!!, Amber!!, Abigail!!" Oh my God! Simon and Megan came too
"What are you guys doing here". Simon gives me a big hug along with Megan. They have always treated me like a little sister, i can still remember how they fussed over Jamie and i when he was about two and all the support they have given us over the years.
Simon is Mrs Charlotte's son and Megan, his wife. They have two children; Abigail who is two years older than Nathan and Amber who was born some months after Jamie. I haven't seen them for over six months and i missed them so much. "We wanted to surprise you so.."
"Surprise!!"
All of them yell including Nathan and he turns to them and says "I told you i could keep a secret. Mom are you happy?"
I have the widest smile on my face and i'm sure someone could mistake me for a Cheshire Cat at this point.

"Of course baby" i give Abigail and Amber bear hugs, they keep growing so fast "The last time I saw you girls, you looked so small now i can't even carry you both at the same time" i say with a little pout and they start giggling then lastly i give Mrs Charlotte a hug
"Oh child i was beginning to think you forgot about me" this causes me to laugh out loud "how could i when i missed you so much". "Julia you look gorgeous as always" says Megan while Simon gives me a pec on the head "oh enough am so tired, the journey was so long and i need to rest. Nathan come let me show you all the things i got for you" Mrs Charlotte says and everyone burst out laughing. I missed laughing like this.

Nathan reluctantly gives everyone a hug good bye as i go to drop him off at school. "Mommm are you sure i can't miss school just for today" he gives me the puppy eyes but i just laugh and put in his seat belt, get into the car and we are off. I too would have loved to stay and chat but i still have the book signing today and hopefully everything goes well so i can return to Megan and Mrs Charlotte. Simon is going to pick Nathan up from school today and meet me at the public library so we can return together.

I don't think i have ever seen the library looking as beautiful as it's looking today with decorations all over, a little set up made for the signing to take place, famous book quotes from so many authors and i can already see the starting of a line.
I never thought i could be nervous about a signing but i have to admit it, just the thought of people not showing up or worst showing up and giving me the worst comments gets my hands a bit sweaty.
"Ju Ju are you ok? you look a little pale" i turn to see Whitney looking so beautiful and confident.
"Just breathe ok, in and out, everything is going to be ok they will love you. Are you good?" i smile a little
"I'm fine now let's do this".

It's been more than an hour now and i can still see the line growing but surprisingly i am not even tired because i have received the loveliest people.
"Hi, i just love your work, i have every copy of yours and i think your work is amazing". "Thanks so much, i'm really happy that you do, here you go thank you again" and that's how it's been going, i have even gotten some comments saying and i quote "you look much more beautiful that I had imagined" not to talk of all the flirting but overall it has been a wonderful experience so far and i don't even want to think of the reason i had been refusing to do this.

The line is finally thinning out and i am exhausted, my cheek bones have even started to hurt because of all the smiling i have been doing. From the side, i see Simon and Jamie walk in and they both wave at me before wondering around the library and i can't wait to get home and relax.

It's finally over and we are putting some of the things away when i hear someone clear their throat, i turn around with a smile thinking it's Simon but the smile immediately falls of my face when i see them both.
My immediate thought is to look for Jamie and make sure he is out of sight before i turn back to them.
"I can see you accomplished your dream of becoming a writer" he says and i force a smile to my face and nod then try to walk away when Kyle holds my hand

"Not so fast Julia, we want to have a little talk with you, i am sure you can make time for that" i  try to swallow the lump in my throat.
"Well... "
"Are  these people disturbing you Julia" Simon comes forward with Jamie at his side with the bravest look i have ever seen on his face and i smile at how cute he is before i remember. I quickly turn to look at Andrew but he is looking at Simon with a look that i can't decipher but i don't have time for that. I have to hide Nathan so i rush to stand in front of him when i hear it, i hear the words i have been dreading the most for so long. I turn around and Kyle's eyes are stuck on Nathan "Drew i think you have a son".
