Eddie was sitting at the dinner table starring at his first fast food take out.
The bag was greasy stained white bag.
Brian and Eddie did their first drive thru to see what was all the hype about this burger hop.
And, what other choice was there, than to break down and try their famous burger and French fries.
"well, if I'm going to be an American teen I guess I'm going to eat like them....What doesn't kill me makes me stronger."
Laughs a nervous Eddie about to devour his first American burger.
"Well, here's to living life on the fast lane ." Laughs Brian.
He had some burgers before and aquired a taste for one every now and then.
And, Brian was sure Eddie would feel the same way.
Not all royals are vegetarian.
However, heart disease runs high in his family.
So, Eddie grew up in a strict home; He was on a mostly Vegan diet prepared in a tasty way, from a talented staff.
As a treat once every three months the family added meat they hunted or fished on vacations.
Otherwise, it was low carbs, low fat, and every vegetable imaginable flown in from all over the world.
Eddie wasn't even sure he could eat American food without getting ill.
Eddie closed his eyes.
He smelled the burger to soak it in.
He took a bite.
Wow, delicious!
It surprised Eddie to feel that way.
It didn't taste like cardboard as he was often told."Good...isn't it?" Smiled a pleased Brian in his choice of dinner.
Moments passed before conversation continued.
"So, how was work?" Asked Eddie to the undercover janitor.
"I loathe these sniffling bratts!" Speaking half- teasesed, and, half- truths.
Laughed Brian.
Eddie felt a little guilty that Brian was stuck behind the scenes cleaning up after messy students.
"Well, enough of my own pitty party...how was your first day ?" Brian shifted.
He realized he was there for the King.
It was his duty to do whatever it takes to keep the future king safe.
"I ran into that girl again. " stated Eddie.
"That homeless girl?" Asked Brian.
"No...she's not homeless....just really struggling...I wish I knew more." Sighed Eddie.
He really felt connected in an odd way.
Maybe, he connected with her loneliness.
Maybe, he saw freedom in her emotional outburst .
For, when his dad died he was not only a public spectical...But, he was the King.
He was not permitted to be anything other than strong.
In all his life he never saw an emotional breakdown.
It was a bit odd.
It was a bit unsettling.
Yet, he felt drawn to this strange frail girl.
Was he the mosquito heading to a light zapper?
Now Brian knew the once prince...now king had a weakness for stray dogs or special need cases.
