┊ ┊ ┊ ┊How do you confess your love without sounding like a squeaky balloon who lacked air.
Yes, Changbin was freaking out. Not stressing no, no that was far more... stressful?
One thing for sure, Changbin wasn't making much sense right now. Not that he ever made sense when he was in front of the younger.
"You shouldn't freak out so much, Bin." Minho kindly reassured him, and Changbin couldn't help but smile back at his hyung.
Truly finding his love again made him found his voice. And Changbin had missed it.
"I know hyung, but... we all lived through so much and..." He breathed out, feeling a different kind of exhaustion. "And I don't want to burden him even more..."
That was true.
They all lived through a lifetime worth of pain, and even more. Too many days passed where waking up seemed more like a punishment than a blessing. Where breathing just felt wrong, because their dearest friend, couldn't even do it without the noisy machine stuck too him."And that's exactly why you deserve your happy ending, Hyung. Both of you." Seungmin sat down next to him, rubbing soothing circle on his back. Changbin still didn't dare raise his head, too stuck in his own world of love misery. "Also, your relationship goes beyond love, believe me."
That made him perk up.
Because, Seungmin was right. There was no need to put a label on them, there was no need to confirm whatever was going between them.
He shouldn't force their special bond, because if they were truly meant together. Then they will always find each other's.And that was enough for Changbin.
"You are right." He looked up, eyes shining with unshed tears, but bright with hope. And all his brothers smiled down to him, the same hope reflected.
But their precious bubble popped when Felix went running.
"Guys!"
Everyone quickly sprang up, eyes wide with worry and fear.
"Something is wrong with Jisung!"
———
Fear, Hope, Fear, Hope...
And repeat indefinitely.
That was the only thing Hyunjin could feel those days, and looking around the waiting room.
He could feel he wasn't the only one.
Honestly, this mix of emotion was making him more and more nauseous, stomach turning and churning. As if something was slowly rotting inside him, leaving him dizzy.
Now that he thinks about it. Maybe something was truly rotting inside of him. Hope.
How long has it been? Waking up and hoping, hoping that everything was just a damn nightmare.
But then realizing, it is reality.
But then, hoping for Jisung to just open his eyes.
Except he didn't heard anything from him the whole day.
But then. He would hope for a dreamless night, and sometimes, he would hope for no morning.
But that also never came, fortunately or unfortunately.
But life and faith seemed to be far from over with them.
Because the circle of hope and fear seemed to repeat all over again."I really don't understand." Felix mumbled, face in his hands, making everyone raise his head. "What don't you understand, Lix?" Chan asked, and Hyunjin couldn't help but notice the utter exhaustion behind his hyung's voice.
Seems like something happened between Chan Hyung and Liam Hyung...
"I don't understand why does he have to suffer so much! Why do we have to suffer so much!?" Felix completely stood up, eyes brimming with tears and fist tightly closed. "Lix, please calm down-"
"No! Is there an end at this Hyung? Please tell me!" He continued on screaming, deep voice getting high by each words.
Hyunjin helplessly watched as Changbin tried to take his hand only for Felix to turn around and bolt down the hall."I will go after him." Changbin said, taking Felix's jacket and standing up. "Call me if Jisung wake up." Hyunjin surprisingly found his voice, "We will, Hyung"
After their two footsteps faded into the distance, a heavy silence hung over them. Hyunjin couldn't help but frown at the thick tension between the two eldest, locking eyes with the others, it seemed like he wasn't the only one noticing it.
"Hyungs?" Minho called out, hesitance clear in his voice. The two turned, albeit a bit dazed. "Something's wrong? I mean... something else?"
Silence.
A beat, maybe two passed before Liam sighed, hands going to grab Chan's trembling one. "I fear that our pain is far from being over, kids." Woojin calmly announced, looking at everyone.
The rest of the kids, like he called them, looked at each other in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
Hyunjin was right, life was truly not over with them.
Hope, fear, hope, fear.
Never ending.
in love with ateez.
