Chapter 1: The Dead Walk

You were a teacher at Carl's school, best friends with Lori and dating Shane so it made sense that you were there for Lori when her and Rick got into fights, when he got shot, when the dead started walking which also happened to be when Shane had to tell her Rick was dead.

Near the end of the school day you got a call from Shane. "Y/N, there's something going on, I'm going to check on Rick then I'll pick up Lori and our things. I'll be there soon to pick you and Carl up, make sure to keep him safe and calm. The broadcast is saying to go to Atlanta."

The bell rings and you quickly pull Carl aside. "Hey bud, Shane just called and said you're hitching a ride with us and your mom to Atlanta." You explain. Carl then follows you outside where Shane and Lori are waiting.

"Carl we're going to be staying in Atlanta for a while, okay?" Lori says going down to his level. She reads the expression on his face like he asked the question 'What about dad?' out loud. "Your dad is..." You turn to look at Shane to avoid the conversation. "Lori, we have to go now" Shane says before you all get into the car and head for Atlanta.

Later

Night has fallen and you're standing outside on the highway just outside of Atlanta due to a huge traffic jam. The radio broadcast has been looping over and over again. You're standing with Lori, Carl and a mother and daughter named Carol and Sophia beside their yellow caravan. You hear some people yelling up ahead.

"Lori I'm going to walk a little up ahead and see what's going on." You explain to Lori before you walk away. You make it to where the yelling is coming from and see people becoming violent and cannibalizing each other. You run as fast as you can back to your car to warn everyone.

"We need to get back in our cars and turn around, Atlanta's-" you started telling Shane what was going on but you were interrupted by the sounds of bombs hitting the city.

"Lori! We need to go! Now!" Shane started panicking "You guys follow me." he said pointing at the people with the yellow caravan. You hurry into the car and Shane starts driving away from Atlanta.

"Where are we going Shane?" asked Carl.

"We're going to the quarry a few miles away Carl. It should be safe there." explained Shane.
