Music from an electric guitar flew out of a window of a small two story house, the boy playing the guitar had long, curly, fluffy hair, the boy's name? Kory. He was practicing for a gig he had with his band that night, the same old same old. In a basketball court near a college was Francis, he was in practice since he was trying to reach star player.
"Hey Francis, what are you doing after practice?" Francis's teammate asks. "Well i'm not doing anything much, just gonna go home, something like that." He says wiping sweat off his forehead. "Well, do you want to come to one of my gigs? It's happening after practice, I'll drive you there."
"Uh okay that seems pretty cool, I'll go with you." Francis agrees with a smile on his face. After practice the two take a shower, and change in the locker rooms.
Francis was enjoying the gigs and was definitely excited to see his teammate get on stage. When his band walked on stage and started playing, one of the boys caught his eye, like a sense of dejavu or something familiar.
After all the gigs were over Francis went to look for his friend, he found him talking to his group members and decided to join in. "Hey you guys were so good out there! You looked so cool!" Francis exclaimed.
"Thanks dude, oh by the way let me introduce you. The one with the blond hair is Caleb, the guy with black curly hair is Gabe, the guy with black and blue hair is Winston and the tall one with the great hair is Kory." his friend points out all the members, they all waved to Francis.
Francis was slightly taken back by the name "Kory"; he's definitely heard that name before, but he can't pinpoint exactly where he's heard it. He definitely thought that the boy looked attractive, and his hair was definitely nice.
Since curiosity took over Francis he was just going to ask the guy himself. As everyone was about to leave Francis said that he would just get an Uber home. Of course that was a half lie to catch up to that Kory guy.
"Hey! Can we talk?" Francis called out to the guy with long hair who looked like he was walking home. "Uh Francis was it? Hi, what's up?" He stops and turns to face Francis.
"I just wanted to talk to you more, you just look really familiar. Like someone from my past, sounds creepy I know, haha." Francis scratches the back of his head, Kory's definitely going to think he was weird. "No you're okay, you also seemed very familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it." he trails off deep in thought, Francis does the same.
"OH, did you have a friend back in grade school named Cortland!?" Kory speaks up loudly. "Oh my god yes, yes I did! That was you?! You've grown so much, I could barely recognize you, you're so much taller than me now!" Francis says excited to finally see his best friend again, out of excitement Francis jumped up and hugged Kory tightly, Kory hugging back.
"I've missed you so much, what happened?" Kory asks. Francis pulls apart, "Well, I moved away but I moved back here into an apartment, since it's close to the college I'm going to. Listen, I feel bad that I didn't tell you I was moving, but look now! We're here together again!"
"Yeah, mm you're right. I'm glad we were able to meet again, after all that time." The boys start walking and drift off from the subject. "Uh why are you walking with me? Don't you need to get home?" Kory asks as he laughs a little.
Francis was caught off guard and was surprised, "OH yeah you're right- haha I guess I was really comfortable just walking to you. I want to spend more time with you, can we exchange numbers or something?"
"Yes, yes definitely. If you're free tomorrow do you want to meet up? Like a cafe or something, so we can catch up?" Kory asks, taking his phone out, a wide smile across his face. Francis gives a smile back, "Yeah, let's exchange numbers first, and we can plan something."
They exchange numbers and say their byes, as Francis was waiting for his Uber to arrive a wave of child-like euphoria flew through him, a type he hasn't felt in a very long time. After Francis was out of Korys view he did a little jig, overwhelmed with happiness, they both finally found their best friend after all these years.
