Sleepover

2) This takes place a few days after Linus feeds off of Mehl and Killian
3) I've never written fan fiction before .-.

Moonlight shone through the clear window. It was already fairly late, and most of the Halfling Institute had already fallen blissfully asleep. Killian sat at his desk filling out paperwork. There were a few more young, distressed halflings who were rescued and brought to the institute, but they acted out on their frustrations often, and Killian had to resolve the messes they would create. For now, all he could really do was hope that the other halflings would be able to keep them under control, and he would handle the damage.
    There was a knock at the door. Killian looked up from his work and had a questioning look on his face. He looked at the clock to confirm that it was 2am, far too late for anyone to be asking about recent scheduling errors. He got up and stepped towards the door when another knock came from the door. Was it urgent?
    He opened the door to see Linus, pillow in one arm and rubbing his eye with the other. Linus's eyes lit up.
"Hey there Kil!" he said in a slight whisper, but excitedly. Killians facial expression softened.
"Is something wrong Linus? Its pretty late for you to be wandering around the institute." Killian crossed his arms, leaning against the doorframe. He was happy to see Linus, but was worried that he would be harmed if there was a conflict between him and someone from the night class.
Linus looked down at his feet
"I couldn't sleep, so I was wondering if you would be okay with a sleepover..."
It's been only a few days since Linus attacked Mehl, and he's been having trouble sleeping since.
Killian smiled and stepped to the side, allowing Linus into his room.
The two friends used to have sleepovers all the time as kids, but mostly for Killian's sake. Killian is a half dream-eater. Consuming the dreams of others was the best way for him to get his energy back, but he hadn't fed since the two temporarily parted ways. Much like how Linus needs Killian to help him when he needs to feed, Linus helps Killian.
The two got ready to fall asleep, although Killian stayed awake. Linus's eyes were heavy, he felt safe in Killians presence. Killian softly touched Linus's horns. It used to help him fall asleep when they were younger. After only a few minutes, Killian was certain that Linus had fallen asleep.
Killian's eyes glowed brighter than the moonlight. He closed them, and gently placed his hand on Linus's head. Green and yellow lights swirled around the two, and a soft, harmonic hum of magic played in their ears. Drifting away.
A few minutes pass, but the scene is interrupted by a sniff from Linus. Killian opened his eyes, only to see Linus crying besides him. He hadn't even noticed. Killian panics.
"Linus!" Killian shook him. "Linus what's wrong?"
Linus opened his eyes slightly. He sniffed.
"Your power... it's so kind...." Linus said through sniffs. Linus had been insecure about his half-incubus side since the two met, but Killian didn't realize how sad it made him. Killian rubbed Linus's horns gently. He would usually know exactly what to say, but he was at a loss at the moment. All he could do was provide comfort for his friend.
"Your power is a gift, Linus." Killian said, after a long pause of silence. He wasn't sure if it was what Linus wanted to hear, but he was doing his best.
After some hiccups and a long time spent on head pats and horn rubs, Linus shifted closer to Killian, resting his forehead on Killian's chest. Killian smiled softly, and hugged him close. Linus cuddled closer, and his breathing slowed. He seemed to fall heavier as he relaxed into sleep.
"I hope you're my soulmate..." Linus said sleepily. Killian was a little shocked to hear that, and was surprised that Linus could fall asleep after saying that, but he smiled. He blushed a little as he hugged him even closer, as the lights and humming resumed.
"I hope you're my soulmate too, Linus."
