No one can figure out what your superpower is. You don't sleep. You never blink. Sometimes you teleport. It's creepy. It's also rather simple: Time stops when you're not looking.

The silence that surrounded me was heavenly, but short lived. The moment I opened my eyes the roars of the crowd stories above me found my ears. I sighed and shook my head as I laced up my jogging shoes. I could easily close my eyes again and return to my little silent world but ultimately that would change nothing.
As I rose to my feet and started stretching in order to loosen my muscles a singular voice vibrated through the air, the walls, the ceiling and probably my skull.
"WELCOME BACK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO THE FINAL ROUND OF..."
I closed my eyes and silently begged for someone to punch that announcer in the throat, but when the crowded locker room returned to my eye his voice continued to boom.
"SUPER-HUMAN POWER VERSE POWER BATTLES! ARE YOU READY FOR WAR!" he yelled.
"I don't understand why that announcer has to say all that," the contestant numbered 11 complained. "It's not a real battle, or even a war."
"He's a hype man," another contestant replied. "He's hyping up the crowd..."
"He's annoying," the first, who had the surname Roth printed on her back, replied. "What are you looking at, freak?" she asked over her shoulder as she glared at me.
"Nothing," I replied.
When it became clear that my answer was not satisfactory the well-sighted teen turned fully and stepped towards me. Before Roth even had the chance to grab me I closed my eyes and stumbled my way out of the room, which was a challenge since I couldn't see.
Although I tried my best to find the locker room door with my eyes closed it was too difficult a challenge so I ultimately gave in, like always, and opened them. The moment light breached my eyes I paused when I realised that I had given up right in front of another contestant who had been sorted in Group A alongside me.
"Where did..." Roth asked from the other side of the room.
"What the heck..." the boy with the number 19 printed on his shirt cursed as he jumped backwards away from me.
"Sorry," I quickly whispered but it went completely unnoticed as everyone turned to see what had happened.
I made the mistake of looking back in the direction I had come because as soon as I spotted the girl that for some reason wanted to hurt me she found me. I didn't know how her powers worked exactly, but it didn't take a genius to figure out it had something to do with looking at her. I wanted to consider the unique abilities further but apparently Roth didn't like someone like me making a fool of her.
