ACT ONE. NEPTUNE. CHAPTER 6: SHADOWS OF ME.
AFTER A FEW MINUTES SHE WAKED UP IN HER DREAM, she was in a hallway she didn't recognize, it didn't look at all like any of the places in any sanctuary where she had been so she knew she was no longer at home. She heard the murmurs of two people talking and followed the sound, stopping in front of a black door.
Her curiosity led her to turn the knob to discover what was behind her and she entered, it looked quite luxurious but unkempt, she walked further into the unknown place where she saw Strange sitting at a table writing, suddenly he threw his things on the floor furiously, she felt within his emotions that already well-known immeasurable rage that was almost typical of him despite their little or no coexistence, his features denoted that chaotic anger that savagely dominated him, with his hands wrapped in bandages he stood up abruptly screaming, but she didn't understand anything he was saying, just listened to the recurring static of those memories.
Gradually the sounds became more and more clear, like echoes, it was an argument with a woman whose face she could hardly distinguish, she would be lying if she said that she was not afraid to see the former neurosurgeon as he was at that moment, her eyes began to water down between the emotional pain he felt and the sudden horror she was beginning to feel from his uncomfortable presence and his screams, an anguished mixture that frightened her. Claire was beginning to be afraid of Stephen. He leaned briefly on the window glass until she saw him turn around to continue screaming, she moved closer to him to be almost face to face, a meter apart.
"You care so much, don't you?!" He asked angrily until he felt something wasn't right with his own memory.
Claire was startled by that last shouted questioning, her shoulders rose abruptly, despite knowing that his words were not for her, she could not help but feel scolded before him, in his eyes she recognized that feeling of uselessness crossed like a knot in his throat because she herself had experienced it a few times, a door slammed and when Strange was about to lean against the window, he squinted his eyes to more clearly capture the reflection he was witnessing through the glass with the little lighting he had.
She sobbed lightly, silently, stopping her urge to cry as she felt everything the doctor was repressing, that was one of the greatest disappointments of her gifts, feeling love and happiness through others was only a momentary illusion, the worst feelings stay with you even if you ignore them like bitterness and heartbreak.
Even if she wanted to modulate her power so as not to feel them it was too late, she had already felt through him, before a tear fell from her left eye, she raised her hand to rub her eye, it was there that Stephen turned to face her.
Both looks connected, causing Claire a confusion that would be impossible to answer, how could he see her? He got closer to her, stretching out a hand, he touched her face with the tips of his fingers, trembling and sore.
