The passengers shake as the plane comes to a stop, arriving at the Pewter City Airport. As the passengers of Flight 307 from the Sokoku Region leave their plane, they come to bask in the new air that surrounds the Kanto Region.

"Pewter City, A Rock Hard Foundation For Any Trainer, hm." Otoko read, the town sign as he departed his gate and went to grab his bags. "I've read the gym leader of this place is sort of a mentor to younger trainers, so much that he even traveled with one for a while."

As the kid finished his sentence, the sounds of cameras clicking, and giggling girls came in what seemed to be in a shroud, ahead of them, was a man dressed in all white, happily bowing, stroking his luscious green hair, or tipping his fedora for the cameras. While people awed and gasped at the sight.

The young Otoko wandered over to a nearby clerk, "Excuse me, would you mind telling me who that is? I'm from a region that doesn't broadcast interregional news."

"Heh, that's our regional champ, kid. His name's Wick, he's from the Hoenn Region. When the Kanto and Johto Leagues split, Ethan went to Johto's spot, leaving an open spot for a champion. Wick beat the Elite Four, and Lance, who took over until we could find an official champion." The clerk huffed

Otoko wandered the place, for a city, there was more grass than there were buildings, and more rock than there was grass. 'For a town that has a gym, the size of this place is uncanny compared to what we have back home' he thought, as he walked to the gym.

"Greetings, Trainer." a booming voice was heard throughout as Otoko entered the gym, "I am Brock the Rock, the leader of The Pewter City Gym. Here I will help lay the rock hard foundation for the rest of your career, care to challenge me?"

Otoko nodded "I am Hikaru Otoko of Sokoku! I challenge you, mighty Brock to a battle!"

Brock laughed, "You seem to be only a beginner, so I'll battle you with two Pokémon, don't get ahead of yourself either, they don't call me Brock the Rock for nothing ya know!"

Geodude was Brock's first Pokémon, so Otoko sent out Squirtle, which earned a comment from Brock, "It seems you've studied up on Type Advantages, good. Now Geodude, defense curl!"

Otoko commanded Squirtle to use Bubble, which was a super effective attack on Geodude, but due to the defense curl put in place, it didn't do as much damage as Otoko thought it would, barely lowering Geodude's HP to about half.

"I'm descended from a line of Regional Champions, battling is in my blood. Now, Bubble again, this time, with more speed!" Otoko commanded, and Squirtle followed, giving a thumbs up beforehand. This time, Geodude went down.

"I'm not done just yet. This one's a lot bigger and much more powerful! Come out Onix, and show Young Otoko what true strength is!" Brock was right, Onix was much more powerful than Geodude, being able to take two Bubble attacks after using Bide. Onix had fainted Squirtle with one attack.

"Alright, Young Otoko, we're tied now. with only one more Pokémon left. Onix is getting weaker because of your Squirtle. I'm sure whatever you have up your sleeve will do you some good" Brock spoke as Otoko readied Gastly.

"Alright Gastly, Squirtle took Onix down to half, you can finish the job with one move if you're lucky." Otoko uttered "Let's start this with Confuse Ray." and Gastly was let out.

Gastly and Onix seemed to be even, but with Gastly hitting confuse ray and inflicting Onix with Confusion, which caused it to hit itself, "Nice Strategy for a Beginner." Brock commented. Onix's next move was slam, if Gastly could hit a Lick attack, and if Onix hit itself, The Battle would end in Otoko's favor.

Otoko's strategy went exactly to plan, with Onix hitting itself while trying to use slam, and Gastly landing Lick, with two hits, Onix went down.

Otoko sighed, and returned Gastly to it's Pokeball.
