The day had started like any other day. The twins Jessica and Mary who were both fourteen had woken up and gotten ready for school. Downstair their parents, Michael and Susan were waiting for them, and the family started having breakfast.

"Be careful Mary, if you eat any more, you'll break the chair" snarked Jessica.

Mary was used to comments like these from her sister, so used to them that she never bothered to fight back. She was to shy and reserved to do that, even to her own sister.

"No worries, we need to get a new chair anyway, a bigger one would be better" Michael laughed.

This made Jessica smile as she knew her father always took her side in whatever she said.

"That's enough now! You two will be late for school, now go and get ready" Susan remarked.

At school, Jessica was known as the mean popular girl who bullied many people. But she was also very charming, which is why many boys were attracted to her and Jessica loved that kind of attention. Unlike Jessica Mary didn't have a huge number of friends, but she did have a few friends she very much treasured. Like Jessica, boys liked her a lot as well, but she was very nervous and wouldn't really speak to them, instead  focusing on her small group of friends and studies.

"Uggh finally I found you! I've been looking everywhere for you. Listen, I know we had this history homework assignment due for today, but I forgot to do it, can you?" Jessica asked.

Mary looked back at her sister. It wasn't part of her nature to refuse to do it, so she accepted, but knew it was going to be hard to get it done.

"Thanks, sis."

The only time Jessica was ever nice to her sister was if she wanted something, but even though Mary knew this, at that moment it felt good to hear praise out of her sister's mouth, instead of an insult, so she didn't want to disappoint her.

Jessica smirked before turning around and then shouted

"Out of my way Bowtie!"

The boy looked up in fear and said, "sorry Jessica" before looking down again.

Jessica rolled her eyes and pushed him aside. "Come on girls," she remarked.

When Jessica went around the corner, Mary got down on her knees and helped the boy pick up his books from the floor that Jessica shoved down.

"I like your Bowtie"

The boy looked up in confusion. "You're being... nice?"

"I'm sorry about my sister, she can be rough sometimes."

The boy still looked confused but was grateful for her generosity. "Thank...you." He stumbled.

Mary just smiled at him before the bell rang and Mary went back to class.
