My mom told me a long time ago, that when she was young, clean water used to fall from the sky. She said that birds and dandelions were as plentiful as mosquitos. Now I'd be lucky if I found one dandelion in a week. I hadn't believed what she'd said back then. If the earth had so much clean water and life, I thought, then where did it all go? I'd asked my mother that , when she was still alive. She told me that people had used it all up. Poisoned it. Destroyed it. How could people have wrecked all the things they need to live? Impossible, I'd said to her. She just looked out the window sadly and told me, "That's what they thought, too". I've never forgotten those words, even after I forgot the face they belonged to. Humans had always prided themselves on their knowledge of the world. Ironic that it was their lack of knowledge that got them all killed.
