Ayumu Akira. He was basically your friend. You never had problems sleeping, because you knew Ayumu was always there, waiting for you in your dreams. You had insomnia from a young age, it was a strange, rare medical condition. However, all that changed. How it changed?
Five simple words: "I wish I could sleep," and you blew out your birthday candles.
Like a spell, from age ten you were granted Ayumu Akira. Since he came into your (subconscious) life, you found yourself sleeping a normal amount. Sometimes, even too much. You'd often get in trouble for sleeping in class, but you didn't care, if it meant spending more time with Ayumu it was worth it.
You had other friends too, but he was the only one you could be completely sure you could trust, after all, he was just your imagination, right? Unlike other people, backstabbing, manipulative, Ayumu couldn't tell anyone even if he wanted to, he was just your dream.
He was like a miracle, seemingly having access to everything in your memory, all you'd have to do to pass a test was fall asleep and ask him the answers. Things went great for you.
All that soon seemed to change. "Hey, why don't you spend more time with me instead of them?" The boy looked at you with sunny eyes. Growing up with you he never had a problem with your social life, so why now?
You tousled his sky blue hair and explained, "I can't always be sleeping silly."
"But why not?"
"I have to participate in my life,"
"But I'm your life too,"
"But if I don't, I won't be able to get a job, and if I can't get a job, I won't be able to get food, and if I can't get food, I'll die."
Ayumu pouted and huffed. You didn't think much of it at the time, but you didn't know what you were in for when he voiced those feelings.
