Quinn watched with wonder as the taxi drove toward the large town of Fubuki. Buildings rose up to the sky above bustling streets and soon he'd be in the center of it.
He wasn't sure why he was called to this place, or by who, but he knew that he was bored of his life in Michigan and wanted something new. He'd grown tired of the same old routine, and when that arrow had cut his finger he knew something had changed and that he couldn't waste his time anymore.
The taxi stopped just inside the town. Quinn handed the driver his card and once the fair was paid he stepped out.
This place was definitely a stark contrast to his old town. Even the weather was beautiful, despite the name. He took a deep breath and sighed, deciding it was time to take a look around.
---------
An armed robber. Many people from town stood around the gas station, watching with worried faces as the robber held one of the workers hostage, a skinny kid who was maybe seventeen, tears streaming down his bony face.
"None of you move! Don't any of you damn pigs come closer!" The rather fat man snarled at the police officers who had surrounded the front of the building.
Quinn certainly hadn't been expecting this to be one of the first things he'd see when he came to the town. He scanned the crowd. Most of them looked pretty average. However, there was one person who stood out. A tall guy, wearing a school uniform and a long jacket, maybe the same age or a year older than Quinn. Short, tousled black hair crowned his head and his blue eyes were scanning the crowd just as Quinn was.
He looked back at the scene happening just before him. Something about it really pissed him off. That poor kid was probably scared out of his mind, being held at gunpoint for something that wasn't his fault. Quinn wanted to save that kid, and decided it would be a good test, a good way to see how he could do in a fight after what happened in America. He slowly made his way around the semi-circle of people watching the gas station and slipped through between the edge of the audience and the wall of the building, making his way toward the robber that didn't seem to notice him.
"KID, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" One of the cops yelled. That student Quinn had seen stared him down as the robber turned to fire at him.
The bullet grazed his side, blasting through a window. The fight was already over, but Quinn could tell everyone in the audience was shocked that he was the victor. There lay the robber on the ground, unconscious, the side of his face bruised like it'd been hit by a brick. Quinn winced in pain as he felt the shallow wound on his side. More importantly, at least Quinn thought, was the student watching him from the crowd. His face had changed from one of curiosity to a threatening expression, turning and stalking back into the crowd.
---------
Quinn walked away from the police station, hands in his pockets. After the whole robbery fiasco, the cops brought him in to tell him off for putting himself and the others in the crowd in danger.
The street was empty now, for the most part. It seemed people had gone back to their lives.
All except one, anyways.
Standing in the street was the student he had seen earlier, looking down on him.
"Hey, buddy? I saw you earlier in the crowd today, you seem really pissed at me-" Quinn began.
"You're like me." The student cracked his knuckles.
"What do you mean? Like we're both students?"
"I saw what you did in that fight earlier. No ordinary person could've done that. You have an ability like I do. You have a stand." The student's unblinking eyes seemed to stare straight through Quinn.
"I don't know what you're talking about, what the hell is a stand?" Quinn replied, fairly sure he knew what this guy meant but not wanting a fight.
"If you have one of those abilities, then you were called here, too. That make you my enemy." Behind the student, something appeared. Like him it was tall, but it was muscle-bound beyond human possibility. Its skin looked like some kind of dark gray scales, and its fingers were all covered by what looked like the fingers of medieval gauntlets, though the rest of them were nowhere to be seen. Most notably, its head was covered by a cracked, darkly colored spartan helmet, or at least what looked like it. Its face was entirely black like shadow and red eyes gleamed from the visor.
"What the hell is that?!" Quinn shouted, stepping back.
"If you can see it, then that means you have one, too." The student scoffed. The monster jumped toward Quinn with shocking speed, flustering Quinn and not giving him any time to react. Its fist slammed hard into his cheek and he was knocked to the floor, blood dripping from his mouth. He had bitten down hard on his tongue when he got punched, and the metallic taste slowly filled his mouth.
The monster prepared to throw another strike at him. Quinn opened his mouth wide, and he unleashed his power. The blood formed into a fist, bursting from his mouth and slamming into the student's chin, causing him to grunt and fly backwards a few feet.
"That's my ability, heh... now come at me, or are you just gonna sit on your ass-" he looked up to find that the student was gone and so was the monster. "What the hell- did you run away?" He laughed, standing up. "That was a lot of talk for not too much fight..."
Suddenly he heard a heavy exhale behind him, turning around. The monster slowly rematerialized in front of him, the scales looking as though they were shifting back to gray.
"Teleporting?! No- your ability is to camouflage, isn't it? You can turn invisible!" Quinn yelled as the student appeared behind the monster, which roared and pulled its fist back to strike.
