As time went on, the pack became accustomed to their new dynamic. Jimin grew into his new leader role very quickly, and while he did have fun with it quite often, such as demanding for the others to bow down to him whenever he felt like it, he took it very seriously. It was important to him that his family was safe and taken care of, so one of the first things he had done was work out a plan in the case of an attack and run through it with Seokjin, Taehyung, and Jungkook as many times as it took to be engrained in their heads.

The entire pack also gladly helped out with their newest addition. As Soyoung grew and started staying awake for longer periods of time, Jungkook and Taehyung took it upon themselves to play with her and attempt to teach her to crawl, although it was way too early for that. Hoseok also claimed the role of giving Soyoung her bath once she was old enough to be bathed in the stream, although Seokjin was always present as he couldn't stand to be more than a few feet away from his pup at any time.

And for the first time in years, Yoongi finally had a partner to help him when his rut came just a month after Jimin's heat. Unfortunately for Jimin, Yoongi still refused to claim him during those few days in the meadow.

"You know," Jimin said, resting his head on Yoongi's shoulder while trailing his fingers along the alpha's arm, "I'm starting to think you don't actually want to mate me."

Yoongi snorted and shook his head at that. The alpha was currently on watch while the rest of the pack was sleeping behind them. Jimin was supposed to be with the others but had decided to come join his boyfriend instead. It's not like he could sleep without the other's arms around him anyway. "Now you're just talking crazy."

"Am I?" Jimin teased the other, moving even closer to him. "Then why haven't you marked me yet?" Jimin tilted his head, exposing his neck to Yoongi in an inviting way.

Yoongi visibly swallowed at the act, stammering out his response. "I-I t-told you, I w-wanted to wait a few months so w-we could really get to know each other."

Jimin leaned even closer to the alpha, their noses now touching and lips brushing together as he spoke. "Do I make you nervous?"

Yoongi nodded slightly. "A-a little bit, yeah~"

Jimin giggled. "Good~" Jimin whispered, pecking Yoongi's lips. "Now, mate me~"

"I can't~" Yoongi said, and Jimin was about to start complaining until the alpha continued. "I'm not in rut and you're not in heat."

Jimin perked up slightly at the implication of that. "So, the next time..." Yoongi nodded and Jimin squealed happily, throwing himself at the alpha and nearly knocking him to the ground from the force of the hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"You know, you still gotta wait at least another month." Yoongi pointed out.

"Yeah, but the wait is somewhat bearable now!" Jimin said happily, leaning in for another kiss.

The kiss only lasted for two seconds as Yoongi suddenly pulled away, muscles tense and a growl coming out of his throat as he looked out into the forest. "Yoongi, what's-" Jimin cut his question short as a familiar scent hit his nose. "Hyunjin~"

Yoongi shifted and stalked out of the den while Jimin ran back to the others. Yoongi's growling must have woken everyone, as Namjoon and Hoseok were now shifting and following the other alpha while Seokjin, Taehyung, and Jungkook looked around in sleepy confusion. "Jimin, what's going on?" Seokjin asked worriedly, holding Soyoung close to his chest.

"Hyunjin," that one word was all it took for Seokjin's eyes to widen in fear, "and who knows how many others."

It didn't take long for Seokjin to jump off of his and Namjoon's furs and run out of the den with Soyoung still held tightly in his arms. While Seokjin went to hide Soyoung per the plan, Jimin went to comfort Taehyung and Jungkook, who were both obviously terrified. "It'll be okay~" Jimin assured them, taking them each by the hand and leading them out of the den. Stepping outside, Jimin sniffed the air and determined that his old pack was still near the edge of the territory, far enough away from where they currently were that Jimin was confident that he had plenty of time to get the pups to their designated place. However, he could also smell the slightest hint of blood, signifying that Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok were already fighting the others, and he hoped to all the gods that the blood wasn't theirs.
