A Spell [3]
“Babaanne, there is no need to create an issue. I am fine.” Sitting on his the bed, Serhat frowned. He was tired, very tired of the constant panic his grandmother was creating in the hospital.
As much as he hated attention and chaos, his family was addicted to both of the things.
He hadn’t even woken up properly that his uncle and grandmother had barged into the room asking one thousand questions.
All bullshit.
“But Serhat, you are hurt,” Azimet spoke again, clearly not giving any heed to whatever he was saying.
“I’m fine. I’ve been more hurt than this in the past, it is fine. Don’t give me stress.” Frustrated, he shut the old lady up, “Also, why haven’t you returned to Nevşehir yet?” He asked.
“How could we leave you alone here, son?” Abbas, his uncle, spoke up.
“As if I don’t live here all alone?” he rolled his eyes, “you should be worrying about your daughter more than my 'precious' life Amca, but you don’t.” he bitterly replied.
“How can you say tha-”
“Stop it Amca. You knew I went to get Suhandan back yet you didn’t even ask me if she is fine, if she’s even alive…” he was angry, his family, especially his uncle, never cared about women, be it their own family or anyone else.
Serhat hated this the most, always.
“I told you, she’s fine there. Hamit cares for her.”
“Cares for her? Yes to the point that she called me, begging me to save her because you, being her father, did not care,” he fumed, “You didn’t even bother to tell me that those monsters were holding her hostage since a month! Or should I say since the day you married her off to that asshole? All you care about is your business.” He fumed in anger, raising his voice.
His uncle was the most selfish person he had ever seen in his life.
Before anyone else could speak more, a knock on the door, followed by another presence, silenced them.
“Good morning, sorry to interrupt your… chat.” Halide entered, addressing everyone with almost a blank look on her face.
He straight up looked at her, feeling his words drowning somewhere he knew he wouldn’t be able to find. He didn’t expect to see her again this soon.
He wasn’t yet prepared and his family had already messed up his mind. Not being civil with her a day ago, he wanted to know what she was thinking but he was finding it hard to study her face… her expressions.
“Doctor hanım, please come in.” Azimet, almost ushered her in. It was like she was waiting for someone to interrupt the heated argument which took place just now.
She nodded and walked towards the table that was in front of his bed, “I see the rest of the reports are here.” she said strictly looking at the file on the table, making it her only sole focus.
She went through the reports, checking the results, while the room fell awfully quiet.
After a couple of minutes or so, she couldn’t help but shift a bit in worry, she was being watched since the minute she entered the room.
She tried to ignore it but she felt, uncomfortable.
She knew it wasn’t him looking at her, as much as she hated admitting it, his gaze wouldn’t make her feel uncomfortable in the wrong way, ever.
