Chapter Two:

I stared at the crisp brown letter and the clear white vial set carefully on the blue carpeted floor as I sat crossed legged staring at them. I knew this was the right idea but for some reason I had a sense of worry if I went through with it … I had no idea how to get back. I leaned back with the weight behind me on my hands as I stared at the ceiling textured with its hills and small snow white mountains hanging upside down.

Flashback:

“Maria Santos Morris please!” I said to the receptionist

“One moment,” she said talking to the receiver of the phone as she turned to me with a scowl on her face. I tapped my foot impatiently it seemed like minutes passed before she gave me the room “Level 5 Room 256,”

“Thanks!” I yelled behind me as I ran to the room, opening the door I gasped at the sight that was in front of my eyes. Bandages were all over her body, a long gash on the side of her face tracing from her lower cheek bone to her pale upper right lip. I walked slowly to her pulling up a chair on the way, grabbing her bandaged I brought it to my face as I stared at the closed eyelids that yesterday had an eager light in them. “Mom, everything is going to be ok don’t worry you’ll get better real soon,” I murmured softly more to myself then to her. The sound of squeaking feet made their way towards me as the clearing of the throat was made; I looked up and saw a man staring at me intently. “Rosie Morris I presume,” he said, I nodded my head slowly at him taking in the white coat and the blue jumpsuit attire, with the clipboard under his arm pit. Though his face, something was in there. Sadness? Regret? Pity?

“Hello I’m Dr.Sykes your mothers doctor now I have to go over the injuries, yes?”

“yes please,”

“Very well now nothing is really serious beside a faint scar on her face. Though during the ride in the ambulance she fell in a coma, it might be days, months, or years, so she will wake up we never know but before she went into coma she gave one of the nurses this,” reaching in his pocket he brought out a small brown envelope with the words Marcus on the front. I took the envelope and didn’t dare open it at all. “She said find him and give it to him,” Dr. Sykes said to me.

“Thank you Doctor,” I said and with the nod of his head he turned on his heels and left.

“Don’t worry Mom … I’ll find him,” I whispered in her ear, squeezing her hand.

I looked both ways before entering my pass into the lock to open the doors. It was after closing time and let me say…GD in the dark was not somewhere you wanted to be in alone. The doors slowly opened letting me in as I step inside checking to see if I still had the envelope and the vial. Quietly I made my way to mom’s part of the lab and the contraction that allowed people to travel. The Consortium, the one thing that helps me finds my father. I inserted the vial into the key place and pressed the large blue button. “Here we go,” I said to myself a small buzzing sound started to be heard  as the light of the Consortium started to expand. I took in a deep breath and started to walk towards it. “STOP! STOP NOW!” Turning on my heels I saw 3 bulking men of GD security hurtling towards me. “Don’t stop me,” was the last thing I remembered saying before a white bright burst of light blinded me and enveloped me in its burning embrace.
