Rextas pov
"Bless it be the name of the Lord, bless it be your name" we were all up on our feet up in praise. My emotions were currently toyed with, next me Max and Rose held hands Max rubbing her back. Tenai and Tye were so cute together, they would smile at each other dreamily, Tye would pick up tenai and kiss her. Thea would talk about her crush, Ace a lot to us. Pearl was with Miles and Rose told me about another man a nurse, she had two see? It was only Isabella and I who were currently single, and Isabella was Isabella so there was no wonder that she wasn't with anyone, did that say anything about me. Brock and I had been together secretly but we had to end it after I caught Brock kissing Morgan. Now I was pretending I was okay when I just wanted to be in a relationship. The song ended and I went to sit down before falling a bit longer than expected and ending up on the dirty floor of the big tent. I looked behind and standing up behind me was some boy laughing at me on the floor, he thought he was so funny pulling my chair. Max grabbed my hand from next to rose and pulled me up, he with his other hand grabbed the chair back and helped me sit on my seat. I turned around to look at this guy who pulled my chair, he was still standing but when he went to sit he fell. A brown hair guy behind him had pulled his chair. I smiled at the person who had pulled his chair and he laughed back. It wasn't everyday you were at big camp, and you were having a horrible time. I scanned the room and looked around trying not to look awkward, I caught the eye of Brock and nearly choked on the air around me cursing under my breath. He was snickering to Morgan, his eyes caught mine and he quickly grabbed her and kissed her, trying to make me jealous. I looked away and was more determined than ever to get someone, but who? Max turned to look at me, I smiled uneasily and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Thank you" I said twirling my hair.
"He's just a meat head" max said nicely. Max was truely nice and he was handsome very handsome. He was tall and had brown curly hair. I pushed my hands into my hands, completely hopeless. The sermonette was quick and being the first day I didn't know if there was an icebreaker or not. I zoned out and didn't notice the pastor leaving the stage. Max shook my shoulder and I zoned back in again.
"They want you on stage Rexta" he said flashing his white teeth. I sat shocked the woman on stage invited me up, I didn't want to go up, but I wasn't to fight either. I climbed past pearl and Isabella fiddling as I walked up to the well lit stage.
"You too," she said randomly pointing a person in the crowd. She picked the guy who had pulled the chair of who had pulled my chair. I looked at him coming up as if to say thank you. He looked at me his brown hair combed out of his eyes and looked back approving me. I nodded at him, and he joined me on stage. He was tall and had brown hair with streaks of blond, he wore some a jeans a bit tattered and torn and he wore a singlet a gap down to the start of his abs. He reminded me of someone, and I knew exactly who. He looked like Luke of Julie and the phantoms. The women who was on stage looked at us and said.
"You guys ready, I want to see which one of you is stronger." She said with a smile lighting up her face. This was ridiculous, there is no way I can beat this strong, handsome guy I'd just met. I could see his muscles bulge through his shirt. He breathed in and out and looked me up and down.
"You guys will both be doing burpees and planks and if you guys tie than there will be a decision maker" she said. I looked out into the croud the lights blinding me. There was Brock clearing amused, and excited. I needed some one for me, he had someone and I was trying to make me jealous so that was not going to work. Planking first, she said with a glimmer in her eye. We both fell to the floor getting in positions. I wasn't bad at planking and I won it once in year 3. But I'm sure that he would beat me.
"3 2 1" she said and we both lifted up our tummy's off the floor. Sweat broke on my forehead and I looked over to the other guy on the stage, he didn't even look tired at all, it was maybe a minute or two later when I quickly fell down landing on my stomach and my chest. It hurt, but I couldn't show any emotion so I lay humiliated again on my chest. He dropped to join me and the crowd cheered. I was obviously not a crowd favourite. The lady said some things as we staggered to our feet again.
"Aspen" he said smiling at me.
"Rexta" I replied turning to face the women. Next burpee's, I heard her say. I turned to look at aspen and he smiled back at me. This was completely hopeless, I wasn't ever going to be at this guy ever. I started to jump up and down doing little push ups here and there, until I looked over to aspen, he was going slow very slow, I could see no pain in his eyes but he still slowed. I kept going and going until, the microphone echoed.
"Moving on... this is the tie breaker" we both got up from the ground and again looked at each other. The cold night air flew through the tent and I tried to soak it in.
"Push ups" she said giving us a countdown and shouting it out to the crowd, I took a good look at Brock's face and he just laughed at me. Our arms pushed up and down, lowering our chests to the floor. The service was a set up inside the tent and the heat from all our body's made it really humid. We smashed ten and kept going. Aspen next to me didn't even break a sweat his arms bulked up and down in one easy movement. He looked back and me and with one careless motion fell onto the floor.
"We have a winner, miss" she shouted and the tent did the same. I caught Brock looking at me and mocking my easy movements. Aspen and I climbed onto our feet and together walked back to our seats. Maybe aspen wasn't as strong as I thought he was. Watching where I sat down, she quickly handed it off and summed up the evening. The group of us walked out, Tenai massaging Tyes shoulder and Max whispering something in Roses ear. Rose, Isabella, Tenai, pearl and I all shared a tent, the boys Max and Tye had a whole tent to themselves but the group of us mainly hung out around our tent. I stammered into the tent and Isabella was on her bed reading a book like a loser, pearl was pacing around on her phone, Tenai lay next to Tye on her bed pulling the curtain shut from around them. I didn't really care what they were doing but they must not of thought we could hear the sounds echoing around the tent. They were mainly giggles so I just walked out.
"Where you going" Isabella asked as I turned to leave.
"For a walk" I said replying in an inviting motion. Isabella kept reading her book obviously declining, maybe it was past her bedtime or something. I walked outside the tent swinging the door as it did and the air seemed to fill my lungs. I walked past the boys tent and I could hear rose and max talking. They seemed so happy together, I wanted what they had, I wanted what Tenai and Tye were doing behind the curtain. The grass was wet and I was trying to be careful not to slip, I walked around the roads and I passed the shops. Some kids were going playing games, and I walked past them as well until I came to the the road next to the playground. There walking as well was aspen. His strong arms lifted to give me a little wave. I bit my lip and smiled at him. He started to walk in my direction and that's when I fell.
