Axelle
“Axelle Pierce!” her mother’s voice thuds through the thin wall. “Get out of that room and go to school!
Axelle picks her book bag up and rushes out of her room, phone and earphones in hand. As she’s rushing out of the door, her mother’s voice sounds through the room once again.
“I do everything for you and yet you pay me back by giving me a hard time! You’re worthless, Axelle! So fucking worthless!” her mother yells at Axelle as she slams the door. Over the past 5 years, Axelle has gotten used to all the insults her mother throws in her face. She’s been like that since her dad left them, anyways. As soon as Axelle steps onto the sidewalk, the chilly air hits her and she notices that she hasn’t grabbed a sweater. She lets it slide, anyways, just because she doesn’t want to walk back into that house. She pulls out her phone and plays one of her favorite songs from Green Day.
As she walks up to the bus stop, the stares of the other people from school make her uncomfortable. But with the sound of her music drumming through her ears, she just didn’t care. Just on time, the bus pulls up in front of them and everyone piles in.
A few minutes into the drive to school, someone taps on Axelle’s shoulder. “What?!” she asks, evidently annoyed at the beautiful guy with blue eyes as clear as the sky.
“Can I sit here?” he asks.
“To be completely honest, I don’t really care,” Axelle says as she puts her earbuds back in. She feels the weight of the chair shift and she moves closer to the end of the chair. She notices the way the guy beside her smells, but she resists. She doesn’t want to notice anything, especially anything pleasant. She hates the world and she’s sure the world hates her, too. She just doesn’t give a fuck.
