Cobalt
"Cobalt! Wake up, time to go to school!" Cobalt's mom chirped from the doorway of his bedroom.
"5 more minutes, mom." Cobalt groaned and covered his head with a pillow. He slept at 3 a.m. because he and his friends attended a party at a classmate's house.
"Okay. But only for 5 more minutes!" his mom replied and closed the door of his bedroom as she left. After what felt like only 3 minutes, his sister arrived.
"Cobalt, it's been 20 minutes! Get up!" she shouted and proceeded to bang the drums she bought just for this daily occasion; waking her lazy brother up because their parents were too lenient to wake him up this early in the morning.
"5 more minutes, Skye!" Cobalt whined.
"No! Wake up now or I'll eat your bacon!" Skye replied.
Cobalt stood up and rushed to his bathroom to take a bath and brush his teeth. "I'm up! Don't try to eat my bacon, Skye!" he shouted from the bathroom.
Skye went to the bedroom and hopped into the bed. Now she could go to sleep.
Cobalt quickly dried off and put his skinny jeans and blue v-neck shirt on. He rushed downstairs and remembered that he forgot to comb his hair. He ran his fingers through his hair to smooth out the tangles.
He grabbed a piece of toast and bacon and stuffed them into his mouth while trying to wear his shoes. He rushed out of the door and grabbed his bag, saying goodbye to his mom.
He rushed to the bus stop and noticed a red-haired girl when he entered the bus. He found himself walking towards her.
He taps her shoulder, curious as to why she's alone at the back of the bus.
She looks up and he freezes. Blue eyes meet brown eyes. He quickly composes himself and asks, "Can I sit here?"
"To be completely honest, I don't really care," the red-haired girl replies as she puts her earbuds back in. Cobalt sits beside her even though the girl snapped at him. And for the few minutes of the ride to school, he found himself staring at her and growing more and more curious about her.
